H,S,S,T,M,C,P (huge single stage to mun cargo plane ) AKA operation Space whale.

Recommended Posts

Well this is a challenge to fly the biggest cargo plane you can to the mun or minmus (bonus points) Here are the points list and the rules my fine space friends!

  1. points
  2. Take off and orbit around kerbin is +5
  3. Mun orbit is +5 (if you get to minmus you get +10!)
  4. Mun crash landing +1 (minmus crash landing+1)
  5. Mun landing and safe unload of cargo+20 (minmus +30)
  6. Safe return to kerbin +10
  7. (bonuses: if some how you manage to land on the moon of a different planet then come back...................+ OVER 9000!!
  8. multipliers! For each kerbal onboard x1.5, for every man-able rover unloaded on the mun/minmus x2, and for landing at the KSC runway after the mission. x5

  • Rules
  • 1 It has to be a plane that can load a rover or other land craft on it (hover cars, pod racers, ect) the load must be loaded on run way.
  • 2 Has to take off from the runway at KSC.(can still be vertical):D
  • 3 you can use and jettison external fuel tanks, but they can not have engines on them!
  • 4 mods are encouraged!(B9 is kinda needed) But no cheats like hacked gravity or infina fuel and no cranes/robo arms.
  • 5 you can dock but only after you have unloaded at one of the moons.
  • 6 keep calm and blast OFF!

This was a challenge that I gave my self not long ago, sadly though I have little experience in SSTO planes:(, Most of them fly to the first atmosphere level then flame out forcing me to use the rockets only once more to run out of oxidizer. I will how ever be participating!

This is my first challenge so if anything needs editing or a more fluid explanation let me know.

GOOD LUCK AND GOD SPEED EVERYONE!

(HIGH SCORES)

So, here's an entry. I call her the Queen Bee. Mainly because it has this "head and thorax" area and the bulbous "abdomen" where the rover goes. She was designed to fly to Minmus, but I think with a couple modifications, I could get her to another planet (will be trying that next). Powered by 12 atmospheric engines, 2 atomic rocket motors, and 8 radial VTOL motors.

Mods Used:

B9

NovaPunch (VTOL engines)

MechJeb

Kethane (the rover is capable of locating, drilling, and converting kethane)

RemoteTech

As for points:

2. Kerbin orbit: check

3. Minmus orbit: check

5. Minmus landing and offload: check

6. Return to Kerbin: check

Multipliers:

I brought 3 Kerbals, but left one w/ the rover (but I think that is still 3x1.5)

Unloaded 1 manned rover on Minmus

Landed on the KSC runway

I'll let you do the maths as well, but I think that totals to 1237.5.

I don't have any pics from the Minmus approach. I was too busy trying to not crash.

:0.0: HOLY MOTHER OF A PIE CRUST! :( I thought this would be harder.

PS can any one tell me how to post pics?

I have only been able to get to a very low orbit before hitting empty with my SSTO. I will post pics when I can.

You need to find an image hosting service (I use imgur), then copy the url of the image you want to use. Then, contain it in {IMG}http:url.....{/IMG} tags, except use [ instead of {.

  • 1 year later...
Hello purplepewpew, and welcome to the forum. :D

This thread was last posted in over a year ago, so it's unlikely that people still have these craft files on hand to share.

Hey :) And thanks, well I HOPE they still had it in their gamefolder :3... and it can't hurt to ask
