Whack a rover

Recommended Posts

Okay well.... Whats funny is that the wheels dont look like they are ripped off, they look like they just detach oO

At 0:48 the wheel part is like "nothing to de here" and just pops. I dont have that at all, even with no struts to attach the wheels more.

I noticed you have an increased delta T, and that might be the problem.

I have a V4.0 in testing right now, and its much lighter and with a lower CoM ans less parts (mATM). It should be better.

What software do you use for recording? I would like to show V4.0 off

MSI Afterburner.

Thing you run into is that TR-2Ls have a tremendous amount of friction, even on the sides of them for some reason. If the bottom touches the ground, it catches and spins the wheel. no big deal, really. If it catches on the side, or on the bottom while moving sideways, it develops a tremendous amount of force that gets put onto its joint with the rover. Past about 40-45 m/s I haven't found any way to keep that force from tearing the wheels off. Get up around 50-55 m/s and things like RTGs and Command Chairs will start breaking off just from the G-Forces induced by the impacts. That didn't happen in the video, because it never got going fast enough down the hill.

Thanks for the advice Tiron. I'm still testing V4.0 so far... and its mitigated.... Ihasnt some of the Downsides of V3.1 But It has a couple new issues (like the need of a definite procedure for flipping it back), overall, im still testing it to make it tougher but also less tedious.... Maybe tomorrow. Here's a silly thing i made to get it fast to the moiuntains :P

EDIT:So it turns out i wont have time to play for a couple days, so here is V4.0b. I'm not done with it, and it needs to be improved a lot.... But heh :(

V4.0b is an unfinished design, but most of it is there. You just have to tweak the position of the side legs and add some struts to the wheels to hold them better, and that should be good. Also, as always, you can take any of my designs and tweak them to your liking. Especially, each holds space and spare power for science eq. MapSat or whatever (maybe not enough for kethane drills but thats an exploration rover.) i suggest you use a MapSat GPS with it. I did nit include it to keep the rover stock so everyone can try it. Also i noticed thatthe engines or V4.0b's plane are from B9... I can't play anymore so if anyone could replace them with something stock that would be very nice!
