Bring a Car along with my Space Explorer

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I have a good space explorer ship that launches into space and travels around really well.

However, I don't have a car that accompanies it. My Kerbals walk really slow on the Mun/Minmus and I'd really love to get a car to help them explore these places.

But the question is, how? I want it so that I can re-mount the car onto my space craft so that I can re-use it at different places.

If you put docking ports onto the base of your lander and the top of the rover you should be able to reattach them if they are at the right height. Minimus would be easier to dock at due to it's lower gravity.

One last thing, do you know about using the kerbals RCS pack? Just press R when your on EVA and you can fly around for a bit, until the fuel runs out and your kerbals come done again...

I call it a MMEV (Manned Munar Excursion Vehicle). NASA calls it a Buggy. My strategy is to launch it separately before your mission and get it into a Mun orbit. Once your Kerbals are on the surface safely, fly it down to the landing site (or use MechJeb to get it down. Whichever is easier for you). After you're done and ready to go home, just leave it. Or you could put docking ports under and on top of the lander and dock the MMEV to the lander, separating it when in the atmosphere (don't forget the parachutes).

AAAAAND I'm done.
