How kethane works for finding it? Also, extraction question

Hello, I've downloaded and gave a tried to Kethane, it looks awesome, but I'd like to know, everybody have Kethane in same locations or it randomizes it for each game? Also I'd like to ask, I've discovered some kethane in Kerbin and I need some help, when I place the cursor over the kethane deposit on world map it says a number, does this mean that it can be finished off if you extract too much? Does it regenerates or when you extract it all... there's no more?

Regards,

The kethane deposits are randomized. Yes, the number is the number of units of kethane. It does regenerate but most deposits are large enough that you would have a hard time using it up and in the vent you some how use up all the kethane in the universe you can just uninstall and reinstall the mod to make more kethane.

If I uninstall it and install it, will my satellites in orbit with kethane detector be erased or something or they'll keep locating kethane? Anyways I can't reach any kethane yet, will need some help, hehe.

This is NOT how it works.

The deposits for Kethane are generated randomly, They are a set amount, they do NOT regenerate. And yes, its rather easy to drain a deposit. You dont have to uninstall to reset deposits, the kethane Debug unit can be used to respawn all deposits. This can be done at anytime actually, not just when empty. The debug is also helpful for testing, in that you can force a deposit to spawn under KSC.

All of your Probes and Kethane Components will still be there. What exactly do you need help with regarding the Mod and it's Functions?

Well, I needed help to land with a rover that has drills on it with a kethane deposit, but I already asked that in the How to... and I was answered that I'll need to burn retrograde and that way I'll land wherever I need, so that's solved already :).

How do I turn on this debug mode? I'd like to test some things with that spawn wherever you need kethane, by the way what's KSC? Maybe Kerbal Space Center?

For kethane debug is a seperate part(you can download it from OP in kethane thread, just under the actual mod). You put the part on a ship, right click and open a debug console.

And yes, KSC is Kerbal Space Center =)

this is how debug looks

Just installed the debugger, thanks for the info!

I've been testing in KSC and tried to drill the kethane to a kethane deposit, but it's not working, I tried even putting the drills directly on the kethane tank and it's not extracting any, what am I doing wrong?

Well, first off like the others said you have no power. These drills, even the smaller ones, are some of the most power hungry gizmos there is....aside from ion engines maybe. Here is a little tip. The included kethane generator can run 3 of the big drills at about 80% its max output. Even with the loss from the generator burning it, those 3 drill will pull in a massive amount of kethane per minute.

Also as was mentioned before you want to try and keep your drills close to the ground, more so for the smaller one. I am not totaly sure how the depth of a deposit is determined. I did find out during off-shore testing that it is possible to 'miss' with a drill if its to shallow or at the wrong angle.

If your just starting out you should also really read this thread:
