Anyway else think the Despicable Me Minions must be close relatives to Kerbals?

This was exactly my thougts as well. Maybe they are both coming from the same planet, and when they had to abandon it and fled out in space, they landed on two different planets and since, evolution has made them look a bit different

The minions did send someone to the Moon with a home made rocket. (Almost wrote Mun then.) With the assistance of a human. Sounds kerbalish to me.

i've thought about this same thing, i can't get enough of those minions . perhaps they were outcast by the kerbals for being too yellow, then gru found them and gave them a home

When I described the game to my friends (before they started playing themselves) I used the minions as an example of a rough kerbal, explaining that they weren't the same but to give them an idea of what kerbals were.

Well, since it seems most likely that kerbals are in a different universe. The despicable me minions could be the alternate universe kerbals, just that they're in our universe, and that they've learned to understand english.

When I started playing the KSP demo, one of the first things I said to my wife was, "This game would be 100 times funnier if they used the minions from Despicable Me." Maybe the KSP developers can ask about licensing them.
