How to make this Aliens Style Dropship work?

Recommended Posts

For the life of me I can not figure out how to make this type of design work without tearing itself apart when I turn off ASAS, Avionics does not work with it either. it has 2 wing Basic engines facing down and 1 Turbojet engine in line with the fuselage.

Center of lift needs to be bellow center of mass. That's just something assumed by game's logic when it figures out thrust vectoring. The thrust vector itself should pass through the center of mass, or close to it. That will allow you to keep the craft stable. Finally, it will make takeoffs and landings much easier if the thrust vector is near-vertical.

I think what is meant is that the center of thrust (of the two vertical engines) needs to be below the CoM or else the thrust vectoring will be backwards. If this is not the case you need to raise the CoM, lower the CoT (by moving those two jets further down), or disable thrust vectoring on those engines so at least they aren't making your control issues worse.

Protip for the intakes: you don't need that many. If you're trying to fly high and fast you'll need ram air intakes (not the radials, they are worthless at altitude), and if you're okay with flying low and slow you can probably use just one radial intake.

It looks pretty neat and I hope it works out.
