i landed on the high rising mountain range

(pretty close to the red spot shown on ISA MapSat)

after spending about half an hour EVA walking around... i still cant find the monolith whatsoever.

can someone give me some hint where that monolith is?

i mean... is it on the icy plateau? or is it down in the basin? or is it on the slope?

(actually i watched that clip before getting there...and i couldnt see that monolith in the valley...actually the valley is indeed pretty big.

and Dr Bill Kerman walked all the way down the hill to the middle of the valley and couldnt find the monolith...)

Well it might have been swallowed by the ground when the devs fiddled with the new normal maps for .20. Try clipping you camera through the ground, you might see it. Else it's probably just there, monoliths are pretty damn hard to find sometimes.

Most likely this. If you are using the lower settings for your graphics it almost certainly clipped through the ground, I observed this with the face artifact on Duna.

Also could you please edit the title of this thread to not display the coordinates so prominently? Although by now most people know where stuff like this is, it still is spoiling it for those who don't.

Funnily enough, I've had problems finding this exact same munolith too, I've tried camera clipping through the ground, looking in the skies above, scanning all around the valley too.

And all my graphics are cranked to the max too.

i am pretty sure my graphics are at the max setting too...

  • 1 month later...

It is in the nice flat valley south of the big snow covered peak. I drove there after landing south of it.

Launch facility is a dot from 20km up.

The actual monolith is right near the radio telescope west of the main complex. It is only visible when your 200m from it.

I made you a movie

Found it!

Yes it's below the ground on the west side of the vally on a 45 degree slope of rock.

Need to be very precise and almost ontop of it when looking underground.

What a pain

Actually that one's been below ground since the previous time they messed with the terrain, in 0.18. You know, when they added the big crater and stuff. :)

I wish the KSP wiki could tell you such things,

its not like its a spoiler because you arnt just going to stumble across them.

I do hope they add something officially in game to detect monoliths, say a neutreno detector or some such thing.

But my number 1 wish is a high resolution camera/optical telescope.

cheers
