Any way to lighten up Kerbal at night?

Having trouble spotting the KSC when trying to splash down nearby at night. I'd love it if my rocket scientists could devise a more strategic rather than realistic map. Ideally one that actually had the KSC as an icon on the map as well (I usually end up leaving an expired flight near the launch pad so I can see the icon). But it is still difficult to differentiate land from water when setting my descent vector.

Not that they will help until the last moment, but headlights might work. If you aren't opposed to MechJeb you can use it to set KSC as your landing target (you needn't use the autopilot if you don't want, but you can still get the purple indicator).

How do you put a flag there?

Just like you do it on any other planet. Have a Kerbal leave the capsule on the launch pad, walk him off the green around the pad (so the flag isn't removed when you launch a new vehicle), right-click on the Kerbal and click "Plant Flag".

My KSC is normally littered with stuff, so it doesn't take much to find it.

I saw a really cool thread a while though where someone had made a huge spot light that lit everything up like crazy. My own enhancements are a lot tamer.

I always attach spotlights to my landers so that they illuminate the ground.

For launches, the launch clamps have lights on top of them. Just four of them with the rectangular wide-angle lights will light up the entire launch pad and some area around it.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
