A quick thanks to SQUAD

Right, I know this is a bit gushy and so on, and I'm sure i'll be accused of being a fanboy, but hey, here goes...

I just wanted to say thank you to SQUAD for the way they have managed the release of 0.21. I know it's not *quite* dropped yet, but what I mean is, SQUAD came in for a lot of criticism from the community for the way they previously had handled updates (cf. Resources debacle, etc), and how the information wasn't getting out to the community, and it was making people frustrated.

What I want to say is that the amount of information, the way it was presented, the connectivity and interactivity, and just the general anticipation that has personally been built in me for this update has been handled really well by the team. This includes, but isn't limited to, all the dev blogs, PD's KSP weekly, the early preview videos (such as PD's with C7, Scott Manley, etc), and just generally a lot more openness.

It's made me really excited for the update, we're pretty confident about what's in and what's not, the features that are visible are great, and the ones that aren't have been explained as to why they're there (eg: game-breaking saves).

So, in summary, Bravo Harv et al.! Keep up the great work; your game has provided me with hundreds of hours of fun, and I am excited for what the future holds.

Nota Bene: Please don't flame my horribly sycophantic post ;)

Just asking, when were they criticized and why are you asking forgiveness for saying nice things?

When were they criticised? What do you think inspired this post, for example?

Or even, what inspired KSP weekly, like I mentioned..

I wasn't asking forgiveness either, I just know that a few people are...sensitive...about too much developer love.

Wait until you get the update, then praise it. :) There's still a lot of space for things to go wrong.

I would commend them on their efforts to make their development process more transparent though.

I think the biggest thanks goes to Maxmaps honestly. Ever since he arrived, things have been going way smoother, the communication with the devs has been boosted by 100000x, he's making everything to give us the most he can. From what I heard, he is the one who organized and added the developer updates to the KSP weeklies, he is the one who managed to give the media group an experimental build of the new update and the right to make videos showing it. If I'm not wrong, he's also the one who managed to get the Steam cards. He also has been commenting on controversial topics giving the developer's input on the subject many times. Really, Maxmaps has been working his ass off for us all and I think he deserves a big thanks for all the efforts he has been putting with the community ever since he was hired. Really, Squad hired an amazing guy.

Also, if the pre-release teaser videos can be taken as a close approximation of how 0.21 will turn out, they managed to do what they set out to do for this update. List of goals from June. We've seen all of those features that are user-facing, and I can only assume that the internals are there too.

As an aside, it just hit me that, with the proper crew management system now, we won't have any problem with duplicate Kerbal names causing any funkiness on docking or crew transfer.
