Yet another strike for the typical CoD player

I did spend a week teaching an OAP to play CoD recently. (Got given an xbox360 for her birthday by her grandkids) She is now habitually doing headshots, and keeps correcting the little [censored] ...brats on their use of english. Absolutely hilarious to watch.

They don't believe she's 80... disrespect her, get shot in the groin, then the head.

Best week of tea and gaming I've done in a while, and a pleasure to give something to the CoD community.

She was a resistance fighter in WW2, and comments that the guns aren't as realistic as they could be, that usually starts the little brats off.

GR:FS seemed to have this problem at first because people who are Activision lap dogs wanted a new game to play. Then as they realized that Ghost Recon requires team play to win, they all pretty much left.

You like to carry half your bodyweight around, sleep in a muddy hole in the ground, eat bad food, and get mortared? Strange idea of fun...;)

Actually some people, enjoy this. I myself do semirealistic (you cant get realistic unless you are willing to break few laws and go to prison) medieval reanactment wich includes carriing all my stuff and part of my lords stuff around, sleeping in muddy or snowy holes, or not sleeping at all if you expect night raid from enemy. After last winter event 2 of my group ended up in hospital with frost injuries on their feet after we spended half night searching the forrest for group that played merchants (we played bandits) and other half triing to get some sleep in the snow. (No sleeping bags, only "medieval" equipment alowed).

We vere sufferring like stray dogs, but we managed to survive untill end of the event. And the feel of manly accomplishment (as silly as it can sound) was worth it.

so i totally believe that people who do forexample WWI reanactment actually enjoy it as you described it. :-)

I know, I was just teasing him. I'm ex-military myself, but I never quite understood the attraction of joining the infantry. Still, I know guys who used to love that stuff, sleeping under trucks, pooping in a bag and carrying it around with you, having no employment prospects when you leave. All that stuff. No thanks, not for me. By all means join up, but do yourself a favour and learn a useful trade while you're at it.

Mostly I was teasing about people who've never worn a uniform in their life and think they know anything about fighting because they've sat in front of a computer screen clicking a mouse. Dorks.

I played COD WaW, MW 1 and 2 amd black ops one. In all of them I got to lvl 50 in Waw and I prestiged once in black ops.

I liked waw because it felt like a slower paced game. Setting up an MG 42 to cover an area was a valid tactic. But in later games it's literally just run around killing whatever you see. I used to play bad company 2 allot I liked it because I had options. If I didn't want to bother with aiming to kill a sniper in a building I could just blow the wall out and call it a day.

However all these games pale in comparison to the real games. Quake and unreal tournament.

Agreed Buzzkill88. I hate COD it's not only unrealistic but is a stereotype that all a marine, solidier, airman, sailor, agent, operative, etc is kill. That is completely false. Thats only one of their jobs if they have to. They follow Rules of Engagement. For example are we killing North Koreans everytime we see them on the border? The answer is no,and we follow the Rules of Engagement.

I'm not going to get into the entire argument here, nor am I going to read all the comments -for now-. I'm just going to kick the base of the tower, step away and watch it fall to the ground.

You are basing an entire thread on an article Patricia Hernandez wrote. Do you know her? Do you follow her work? She's the single most sensationalist, feminazi, mediocre, and overall pathetic article writer there is. OH, and you are talking about an article written at kotaku no less.

Why do you think it's really hard to find older articles from her? Surely because they were the works of quality and objectiveness, like the "Should killing women in video games be seen as rape?", which lasted online only 2 days (You can google search it and there are a lot of sites redirecting to it which thanks to the deletion of said article, now point to another ****ty kotaku's work about god of war.

I mean, all you can find from her in Kotaku is 3 articles because the rest were deleted for being so bad, biased and inflamatory that even a site as bad as kotaku felt in danger.
