Well, I don't mind them, but I am going to base the costs against the stock parts costs, scaled against fuel, mass, engine efficiency, part function, and so on.

And yes, all of the parts in the album should be in the pack.

I'm looking forward to the update! I'm just waiting on this and Active Texture Management before I can really start playing. There are other mods I use that still need to be updated (SDHI, KAS, Procedural Parts, Procedural Parts, Procedural Parts), but those two are all I need in order to really get started on a new save.

I have a small request. A 5-segment 2.5m diameter SRB. It'd be perfect for Ares I-style builds. I'm currently using KW Thor II SRB, but it's burn time is too short for 1st stage use.

Think of it as a early design of Ares I (it used 4-segment booster). I've had built the Ares-style rocket (NP SRB for first stage, stock Kerbodyne parts for the second), it could deliver about 30 tons to LKO, which is pretty close to the original.

But yeah, I second that request. In current price balance, SRBs are far cheaper, which makes Ares I-style launcher a very economical design.

There's already a 2, 3 and 4 segment SRB, and the 4 segment one is enormous.. you want a longer one?

It wouldn't be hard to do, its just rolling another config because both types of SRBs are modular now.

Yeah! Bigger SRB's would be amazing!

Seriously, they're WAY more cost-effective than liquid rockets, and with FAR are simply amazing because they're so much denser that liquid rockets as well (the difference between pushing an SRB past the atmosphere and pushing a liquid rocket past the atmosphere is like the difference between pushing a bullet and pushing a feather...)

Northstar

How about making them tweakable in the VAB, like ProcFairings bases?

You can use Load on Demand. It works perfectly with NP.

Of course we do! :) Boosters for the booster god! Especially since you say it wouldn't be hard to make... I need a 1st stage for my Ares I lookalike.

*cough, cough* there is, of course, ProceduralParts, the successor of StretchySRBs. *cough, cough*

While running 0.23.5 I found myself forgoing any fixed-size tanks, I was just using procedural SRBs and procedural tanks with NP engines and ProcFairing decouplers. A 3.125m rocket with a 2.865m payload? Why not? :)

Because procedural parts taken to extremes are boring, one-part-for-everything solutions that takes away design challenges. :)

If you want to use them, that's cool, but that doesn't mean everyone should.

I'll probably make the new config for the longer booster - we'll see how cost effective they are :)

Except they a). Don't work at all in 0.24. B). Even if they're fixed, they'll be Sandbox/Science only, or deliberately overpriced. Procedural costs can't be done in KSP.

All things considered, we'll have to rely on PP much less than we used to. Besides, off the shelf parts are always going to be cheaper than custom-made ones. :)

I hope that balancing update will be soon - I miss NP utility parts (especially radial chutes, radial engines and these wonderful structural adapters - they made my life a LOT easier), but I deliberately do not want to install it into my 0.24 career :)

You can use the latest NP-Version with KSP 0.24. Works fine for me. If you really NEED the upated costs for some balance, you can edit the cfg-files yourself.

So there are no plans to balance the part prices and release an official 0.24 version of NP?

Of course there is. Please read the last few pages of the discussion, not just one random post.

I am finishing the update for my other mod (Tiberdyne Shuttle System) and then working on NovaPunch. I do this as a hobby and have never solicited a single donation for my time, so all I ask is some patience in regards to updates.

Sorry Tiberion I did not mean to sound rude. I have been reading the post and I was just getting confused because one post says there is an official update and then the next five say just install it and fix the part costs yourself. So the mixed messages become confusing especially when a new ksp new release comes out and you are frantically trying to update 30 plus mods you have become addicted to using.

Honestly, just a simply sentence in bold at the first post in the thread to the effect "An update to NP is being worked on. Please be patient." would really help. I check the threads for all the mods I am looking for daily and something like that at the top of the thread would be great.

Regards,

Rick M

Okay, I'm trying to write a balancing MM comfig for NP, should be ready by the evening or tomorrow (FYI: I'm writing this at 9:24 MSK (UTC+4.00)). I'm balancing it around stock and KW (as there is no other well-known mods with 5m engines, and KW is nicely balanced IMO)
