Why ? Why ? Why , Harvester , why ?

You can go into your persistence file (or, easier, the quicksave.sfs file) and change the "rot" values for the flag if you want to rotate it.

Below is the original flag orientations at my Long-Term Laythe base:

Here it is with the flag rotated about 180 degrees:

And here it is with the flag rotated at an intermediate angle:

Have you guys seen the new recruitment trialer for 0.21?? Do you know how hard it is to simply find a Kerbal that is mentally CAPABLE of planting a flag? Be glad that every time you try and plant the flag the poor kerbal doesn't impale himself or destroys vital piece of equipment :D.

I wanted to plant a flag in the light of my crashed Mun lander, intending to leave the lot there as a monument to this first landing on this build, but I'll be buggered if I can get Bill the plant the sodding flag so it faces the light... he plants it in EVERY way except facing the light, he turns just enough each time to avoid the light.

I have spent 20 minutes turning this Kerbil around, trying different spots just so the stupid thing can plant the flag so the picture side is in the light... I even change my camera angles, types.

The obvious solution to this problem seems to be planting the flag first, and then crashing the Mun lander in the correct place. :P

A *very* Kerbal solution... But so efficient that it cannot *be* Kerbal... A quandary indeed.

Now that is a good idea.

Your flag reminds me of a Postcards from Laythe Pic, except this one looks more Kerbal than manga.

What an amazing coincidence :)

I wasn't sure what to make of the rot values, since there are four numbers there. But it seemed that however I messed around with them, the flag ended up in some strange position after I quickloaded the edited file...but it righted itself vertically after a few seconds.

Hah! At least you guys can get your Kerbals to plant the flag. I planted one, decided I needed to move it. Took it up and haven't been able to plant a flag since. Even with a different kerbal and ship.

My world has one flag and Jeb ate it. LOL!

If you just leave it lying down on the ground you will get plenty of light on it.

Ah, yes... like the Apollo 11 flag. Some of the most brilliant minds in existence didn't realize that if you plant a flag 20 feet away from a rocket that's about to launch, the exhaust will knock it over. :P

Heh - although to be fair, it turned out to be a lot harder to actually plant the flag than anyone expected. Pushing it more than an inch or two into the regolith turned out not to be possible.

That also works but then you need to take another 50 goes to get the crash precisely on target, with the optimum number of aesthetically littered parts over the Munscape. And then of course, just when everything else is perfect, you crash into the flag and knock it over!
