What attaches to the endpoints of the LV-N atomic motor?

Recommended Posts

I've noticed that if I attach a fuel tank to the end of the LV-N, it looks like the atomic motor becomes covered in a metal fairing with the label LV-N, in gold.

So what can be attached to these motors, and for what purpose?

Usually you want to attach a decoupler under them, so you can stage them. The fairing blows off when you decouple under it. Besides that, you can attach anything you want, really. Any fuel crossfeed capable part can provide fuel to the rocket, so you could have a rocket on a wing and attach a fuel line to it and it would work.

A decoupler is really going to be the only logical part to connect to the bottom of any rocket motor. If you connect a fuel tank(or any structural component) to the bottom of a rocket motor, it will not create any thrust because the exhaust bell will be blocked.

Decouplers, seperators, docking ports. Those are probably the only things you should even consider attaching to the bottom of any rocket motor. LV-Ns also have those damn annoying side-splitting fairings that shoot off and break things.
