I was messing about with paint and relative sizes to scale since I now have a totally black skybox and clouds on Kerbin (Kerbin in this picture is not photoshopped to have those clouds.)

And since the game looks 5,000 times prettier, I've gotten back into it again.

Anyway, check this out. My jaw dropped when I realized how small Kerbals were in the scheme of things.

If you really wanna cry and pat yourself on the back for how awesome you are for being able to get to Duna, the CLOSEST planet to Kerbin, here's some more info.

Distance from Kerbin to Duna AT CLOSEST APPROACH

6,069.281109 Mm

In an image where Kerbin is 600 pixels (diameter [km]/2) and Duna is 160 pixels, Duna would be placed 3,034,640.5545 pixels away.

A Kerbal at that scale would measure 1/2000th of a single pixel. Remember, this is at CLOSEST approach. When we go to Duna,

we're significantly further away from home than that.

KERBIN's Peribol: 13,599.840.256 Mm

If anyone wants to know why we use rockets in Kerbal Space Program rather than just walking:

The mun is 11.4 Mm away, or 11,400km, or 11,400,000 meters. It would take a Kerbal 11,400,000 seconds to walk to the Mun.

That is better expressed as 131.94 days.

Honestly, I strongly recommend EVERYONE who has "Universe Replacer" at least tries out a fully black sky box. I put it in place and never went back. It's so mysterious and vast looking.

They aren't the size of a pixel. In the Kerbin and Mun photo, they're the size of 1/2000th of a pixel. In that picture, 1 pixel is equal to 2 kilometers.

In the Kerbin and Minmus photo, they're 1/3000th of a pixel. In that picture, 1 pixel is equal to 3 kilometers.

Also:

Standard Gravity on Earth: 9.81 m/s^2

Standard Gravity on Kerbin: 9.81 m/s^2

If it helps any, in the Minmus photo, if you stacked 3 THOUSAND Kerbals on top of each other, they'd make up a single pixel.

See that TINY green dot circled in red? That's 4,000 Kerbals stacked on each other's heads.

You know you can do this in real life by making your own scale model of the solar system and walking it out to see just how far apart everything is and how small all the planets are in comparison.

Earth, from 4 billion miles away. Taken by Voyager 1 not long before the camera was shut down. Approximate size: 0.12 pixels. (The Beams are glare from the sun, due to having to aim so close to the sun's position to get a picture of us).
