What EVA operations would you like to see added?

Recommended Posts

(For some reason, my heading is always my question  ) The heading explains the question, what EVA operations would you like to see implemented. Personally, I would like to see something were you pick up a small fuel tank inside your ship, then fly outside to refuel some of the fuel tanks.

They've got pretty much all the EVA goodness I could think of more or less planned already. Collecting samples, repairing things, strut gun, rover party and sciency stuff. Hopefully there's a lot of EVA experiments you can do...not necessarily in the next patch, but at least eventually. Like ploppable experiments and things. Just stuff to do to make your landing sites look like you actually had purpose landing there.

If you want to add a modicum of professionalism to your forum posts, this is all you need to know about formal writing:

TITLE

ABSTRACT

BODY

SUMMARY

The title is some flowery or catchy phrase which relates to the text. You might choose something like, "Advanced EVA Operations in Kerbal Space Program". In email and forum posts, you usually just take the subject from your title, which is why it's called 'subject', though the whole title is ok too.

SUBJECT: EVA Operations

The abstract is simply a statement of what the problem is or what the direction of the text is to take. Your posing a question for others to opine about, so your abstract is just that.

The body is where you present your evidence. In this case your own opinion on the question is your evidence.

The summary is a short rehash of the entire text. You can omit the summary, or it can replace the abstract and body.

Using your post as example:

What EVA operations would you like to see added?

[personally is redundant] I would like to see something w[h]ere you pick up a small fuel tank inside your ship, then fly outside to refuel some of the fuel tanks.

If you pick your title before you begin writing, you're likely to make your abstract the title. That's because it's natural to write the abstract first. If you write in this order:

ABSTRACT

SUMMARY

BODY

TITLE

Your title will come naturally from the text.

The purpose of this post is not to belittle. I hope you or others find it educational. It is also a reminder to myself to do a better job when writing for a public audience.

Connecting fuel, power and eventually O2 and water lines between ships, similar to KAS but a little less hacky.

Attaching small, remote-triggered SRBs to space junk to clean up Low Kerbin Orbit.

Manually deploy solar panels if the batteries run out.

I`d just like to be able to grab stuff. Any stuff. Grab this part of a ship and jetpack it over to that part and dock it, grab this fuel tank and move it there, grap the outside of a craft and go on a grand external tour of the planets. Go EVA, grab your ship and do small orbital changes with the jetpack, you know, kerbal stuff.

Grabbing stuff would be cool.

I already proposed putting (lightweight) rovers back on their wheels a while ago... other EVA tasks I'd like would be taking samples (c'mon, who doesn't want to see a Kerbal swinging a geologist's hammer or dragging a collection rake?) and doing other light repair work.
