Things are looking up for the world

I should point out that I did my search from work, so not only was I not logged in and not submitting cookies, I was coming from an IP shared by many people who are not geeks, so even if searches were compared by IP those still wouldn't be my searches.

It obviously has more to do with the words "getting started" Non-geeks are likely using "How to"

it's more likely caused by Google being paid to give those particular results... Which is bubbling, but artificially inflated bubbling caused by manual "adjustment" of the initial data.

Google don't allow paid for results to appear in the main search field. Doing so would dilute the credibility of their search, which is their main product. Paid results show up on the right and are labelled as such.

If only wordpress was replaced by HTML but maybe I am going too far.

Er, what do you mean? Wordpress is HTML/PHP/MySQL.

Not everyone needs to be creating their site from scratch themselves, even if they can. I can write HTML/CSS, but I use Wordpress for my personal blog. Why reinvent the wheel? Sod creating a whole content management system from scratch every time you build a little site.

Seret makes a good point. Actually, lets take the Arduino and Raspberry-pi in to the picture too.

Would the world be better off if more people would want to know about those? I don't think so.

What I think would improve the world is if more people learn how to reason.

They show up in a peach coloured box at the Top of all my search results and have done for ages...

They used to show up in the search results with the words 'paid ad' after where it listed the HTTP address, but that was years ago, and they still were a different colour.

On mine I get a local university first, Grant second and then Arduion and Raspberry pi, and I've certainly looked more at Arduion and Raspbery pi then universities and grants.

Fair enough, I'm no webdev so my opinion isn't really credible. Sorry for jumping to conclusions. On a completely different note, I think the Raspberry Pi initiative is a fantastic thing. So is the Arduino.
