Are kerbals an offshoot of the antigravity minion?

Just curious, but wouldn't it be cool if the kerbal's could trace their lineage back to that anti gravity minion from despicable me that floated out into space. After flying in space for so long they turned green and gained proper eyesight. Always wondered what happened to all those minions that flew off into space, seems like this is the answer.

Kerbals are fungi. You can easily tell this because when they die, they explode in a cloud of spores like a puffball. In fact, on Kerbin, the standard euphemism for an astronaut dying isn't "he passed away", but "he released his spores".
