Lost control of rover

I attached a rover under my ship but now when I drop it from the docking port, I cant use it. I sit Jeb in the seat and then I lose control of Jeb. What did I do wrong?

Is there a probecore on it? Have you swapped to it? Does it have batteries? Solar panels or RTG?

At first, it did not have a core. I added the small one and I can click on it and select control from here. When I do that the wheels move and I can operate all the devices on it but as soon as I decouple, I lose control again. Even if Jeb sits in the chair.

I am trying this from the Launchpad and it has over 2k of electricity in the rover when I decouple.

But have you changed control to it after undocking/decoupling it from the craft?

I had this problem, here's how I solve it, put on it one battery and one solar panel, right before you undock toggle the solar panel and then undock!

boom it works!

It might think that you're controlling whatever was on the other side of the docking port, so go to the tracking station and make sure that you're actually controlling the rover.

Or try to switch vessels around after decoupling using [ and ] brackets, they should rotate focus between present parts.

Thank you all so much! Zeblote hit the nail on the head. I tried it again, lost control when I decoupled and then went to the space center and there it was. I drove it a bit and then was able to redock it. You all solved both my issues. I love this community, you guys are the most helpful I have ever run into and you have my sincere thanks. Here is a pic of my rover. Its not much but I hope to use it and explore the Mun and Minmus.

Be careful driving it on Minmus. The very low gravity there means it won't have much grip and it's easy to hit a bump and crash if going a bit quick.
