Lateral config for PPD-10 Hitchhiker Storage Containers??

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I've been trying to attach two PPD-10 Hitchhiker Storage Containers in a side-by-side configuration using the TT-38K Radial Decoupler, the TT-70 Radial Decoupler, and/or the Hydraulic Detachment Manifold. Unfortunately nothing seems to work. I'm able to add PPD's in a vertical stack but not laterally. I even tried to put fuel tanks, struts, and radial attachment points in between. I'm at a loss as to how to get these things attached. Any suggestions?

You can't do this without mods, because a newly-created PPD-10 has only vertical stack attachment nodes. I'd advise to use the SelectRoot mod, which is extremely helpful for doing these kinds of things.

- Create a PPD-10, and attach a radial attachment point to it.

- Create a Probodobodyne OKTO2, and attach it to the radial attachment point.

- Select the OKTO2 to be the new root (Ctrl+Shift+click it.)

- Now Alt+click the radial attachment point to create a copy of it and the attached PPD-10. Note that the combination now has an attachment node where it was attached to the OKTO2 before.

- Attach the copy to the other side of the OKTO2.

- Select one of the PPD-10's to be the new root.

- Remove the OKTO2.

BostLabs, Sorry for the delay, I had to put in some hours at my real job. Do you know they want me to show up EVERY day!!!?? WTF!!!! Anyway, I DID finally get my rovers/habitats landed. The first time I landed them directly onto my Mun Base and knocked everything over. The whole Mun to land on and I hit the one place that I should've missed by three feet! LOL TO9dJVf.jpg Since I had neglected to do a QuickSave (of course!) I had to revert and re-fly the mission. While in the process, I realized that I was unhappy about the location of the Mun Base, especially the slope it was on that meant it will cause issues in the future when I try to build up the location. In addition I had some fuel.....issues. ("issues" translates to running out of it around 25 meters above the Munar surface. ;.; ) Only one lander survived that mission. So I landed my next Tri-Habitat Lander at an alternate location near the "north pole" in order to scout out a better location for my base and then figured I'll re-fly a new base to that location. Come to find out that the "north pole" has a lot of mountains and valleys and steep grades that landers like to tumble down during a landing. Who knew! (Good thing that I put that stock mapping satellite in Munar orbit back when I started my campaign in order to find out that I can't map the Mun without installing a mod! :) ) THIS landing was somewhat improved in that I was able to land with the literally the last ounce of fuel in my tanks! Once we completed our subsequent tumble down the slope, I was even able to salvage TWO landers from the wreck! The third one was stuck upside down, no way to flip it. mVvni9M.jpg The nice thing was that I was able to actually use my detachment/deployment concept and it DID work nicely. Just some minor tweaks to that and I'll be able to use it just about anywhere. The down side of this landing site is that I'm in a valley with slopes too steep to climb out of with my current capabilities. I'll have to try out some additional sites in order to locate a compatible location and then I'll just rebuild the whole base.

Thanks for this. I've been looking for a way to do this for a while!
