Installing Ferram Aerospace Research

Scott Manley's video on FAR claims FAR will overwrite your whole directory. I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean but it makes me scared to install FAR. That is a shame because my space shuttle launches and orbits like a dream, but lands like a meteor. Does anyone know what he meant by this? More to the point, do I have to worry about losing things in my current save if I install FAR?

I think that video is very old, pre-0.20's GameData system. These days, FAR is a mod like any other. You plunk it in your GameData folder and that's it. If you decide you don't like it, you delete it. Nothing else changes.

FAR neither adds nor removes parts. It changes the way the atmosphere affects your vehicle and adds a GUI so you can confingure your control surfaces. Thus, installing FAR affects how all existing ships will behave in atmospheres but does not change the ships themselves.

How about for KSP 1.2.2? I shove the FAR files in the game data folder where all my other mods are in and when I get into the game it says I've installed it incorrectly. What did I do wrong?

FAR also installs normally in 1.2.2. For help with your specific problem, try giving more information.

Moving to Add-on Discussions.

Also, note that the original topic here is nearly five years old.  If you've got current issues, best thing to do is to just start your own new topic to avoid confusion.
