Any else tried to build something really long on the Mun?

I think I found a Bug.

My long power cable.

And here is what happens when I load in from the tracking station.

It falls back to the ground but... I worry what's going to happen when I attach big heavy fragile things to this end...

Do you all think I should post this in the Bug forum? does it rise to that level? Is it known already?

Looks to me like the ground might be sloping away from the main station just a bit, that would cause the cable to hang in the air until it is properly loaded in and gravity pulls it down again.

Just as long as whatever you put at the end of it can take a bit of a bounce, you should be fine

Have you tried to land anything heavier on it? perhaps landing legs pointing up on an rover to push it down.

And no KSP don't like large structures. I had an Minmus base with lots of parts connected with KAS cables for sharing resources. connecting an new part and an huge 3.5 meter fuel tank on landing legs rotated in slow motion and tried to land on its head. it lost an landing leg but was still useful for fuel storage laying on its side but it kind of made me nervous.

I think, vehicles that get focussed are... well, instanciated again in the world, and physics is switched on shortly after. I guess this is the same phenomena like if you launch your space craft from the launch pod: as soon as you hit start, it hovers in mid air, and it takes a second or two until physics kicks in.

I guess this is done to avoid collision issues, so it's neither bug nor feature, but rather a workaround.

I think you should report that. It is probably well-known, but the developers should know that more and more people are running into this problem, so maybe they consider other solutions.
