Recommended Posts

Me again. I am not shore if this is the right spot to put this post. I have made a .mu object but no mater what I do I can not get it to show up in KSP. (I do not now how to set up a .mu part folder and scripts) could some one please help.

I have the model in the parts folder of KSP and the game loads but the block where the object is is empty. What am I doing wrong.:(

The best way to make a proper .cfg file is to copy a .cfg file from the kind of part you have made, from Squad's part folder. For example, if you made an engine, copy an engine .cfg file from one of Squad's engines. Then once you are out of the game folders, open your new copy of that .cfg file using a text editor. Look at what it has in it and then change the portions that you want to be different. You will of course change the name of the part to something unique and put your name as the author. Once you are done, save your new .cfg and put it in the same folder where your new .mu file (and textures) are. Then get out of the game files and play the KSP and see if or how it works.

Thanks for that i followed a long in the tutorial. My game object will be imported but the item box were you go and get it is empty. Is this a problem with the model or is it something to do with my .cfg file.

ps. when I export my object out of unity is it meant to export the .mbm texture as well.

Thank O.R.C

I posted this in the other thread to you;

Yes it will export at least one texture file in addition to the .mu, depending on the type of shader you chose in Unity. It will be either a .mbm, .png, or .tga file.

if you are only getting a .mu file then something is causing the export to error out. There is a way to open the unity program's log to see what it might be.

Usually, its a scene setup issue and the easiest way is to remove everything from the "scene" section (including your Gameobject you added part tools to, the one where you set up the part name and texture type) and then add everything back in.

Stuff like animations and moving around objects as objects and parents too many times can bug out the scene, though those aren't the only causes.
