Sol badge ?

You get the sun badge when you feel you have earned it. For me, I will not be taking it until I place a craft below Moho's orbit. Once I establish an orbit at that altitude, I take orbit and equatorial. My salad bar shows all the stuff I have done thusfar in .20.2 and .21.1 combined. Wait, do I have the manned probe carrier ship at lathe marked on those ribbons? Yes, okay.

From what I understand, simply leaving Kerbin's sphere of influence and staying out of any other planets' qualifies as "Kerbolar orbit". But technically you'd actually have to put yourself in a controlled intentional orbit if you really wanted to make it specific.

I actually decided to make two satellites have a cross between escape and low orbits by putting them into extremely eccentric, inclined orbits like comets. They'll come back in 65 in-game years. Hopefully by that time I'll have invented a system for intercepting one and returning it to Kerbin.

I've managed to lower the periapsis of one ship so close to Kerbol that it, for some reason, went even closer on the second orbit. As if it decayed, perhaps because of the Kraken, I don't know. I haven't had experience with the Kraken before.

The periapsis went below 1300 m and I was out of fuel, so I took the Kerbal out on EVA and used his jetpack to escape the collision. As I was pushing away from the star, I watched the ship exploding a couple of hundred of metres below me.

Now my Kerbal is in a highly eccentric orbit around Kerbol, with his apoapsis at the distance of Kerbin's orbit and periapsis right above the star. He's on a neverending journey that lasted for few decades now. All alone, like a Russel's teapot. I have no idea how to rescue him. It would be too tedious.

I think it was a mod that had KAS in its name, but it basically allows you to tether two ships together, or something close enough to that. Use that t brign at least one into a stable sun orbit, or bring it straight home. unless you actually added docking ports.

What this person said.

Technically you get the ribbon upon leaving Kerbin's SOI and get the orbit dot almost instantly unless you somehow manage to leave Kerbin SOI on a collision course with something else. The equatorial orbit device means you need to flatten and circularize that orbit. I didn't write a requirement of any particular distance, and technically any ship that leaves Kerbin SOI could also go on the Kerbol ribbon - however if you want to restrict the decorations to missions and vessels that are purely involved in solar missions and get, as far as you're concerned, "close enough" and ignore the ones that are "just passing through", then Go For It! I think that's what I did...
