I found it cheaper to reduce water temperature to below zero centigrades and wait some days. Has the downside that the water become slippery and hard to fall on.

You wouldn't be wearing a space suit, because you'd be using an indoor pool. An outdoor pool would begin to boil and freeze at the same time, which will preclude any running on the surface.
