YT-2000 Light Freighter (StarWars)

The milennium falcon is too difficult to make for me so i am having a go on a similar ship which is more symmetrical.

The YT-2000 Light Freighter is the successor to the YT1300 or as we commonly know as the Falcon.

The skeleton is starting to take shape. im keeping the weight right in the middle and so far it is working good!

Looks awesome. Have you tested it? Does it take off on it's own and can it land with the vtol engines?

LOL at this point it only shuffles forward like an elephant

Had to reinforce the landing gear 4 times, and the moving legs can't take the weight even after tripling the amount ...

UPDATE IT FLIES!

12 jet engines screaming at full power and it takes off!

the next question is for how long? is it a controlled take off.. or one of those light the candles jump back and watch jobs?..

I can nearly get it to hover but im making first steps on the hull because i need to know what the extra weight is going to be ... but the part numbers is climbing extremly, even dragging the ship in the VAB makes the music lag XD

update: this thing is getting a nickname: frankenlag!

Im trying to get as many details in as possible ...

The back is now half done and it weight 186 tons! and near 400 parts. Then i still need to do the top and guns

Its nearing 3PM and im still in my pyjamas

Do the jet engines on the back work?

It has got 4 big sas units and yes all engines work.

For lift it has 16 basic jet engines

you get the same torque for less mass if you use the small reaction wheels, might be worth looking into

You might want to use wing connectors for the hull plating instead - or a mix between panels and wings to manage center of mass and possible imbalances due to lift from the wing plating

yeah im starting on a mk3 now, using less fuel and wings instead of all the hundreds of plates
