Are capsules pressurized?

Recommended Posts

Its not strictly gameplay related question, because it does not matter for actual gameplay..

But are capsules and lander cans pressurized? Kerbonauts wear space suitd all the time anyway.

From the other hand, description for pilot seat says "forget pressurized inferiors".

Hell, it's not a given that the suits are pressurized......

This one probably falls under the category of "role-playing preferences", which means that at best the answer is subjective (i.e. they're pressurized if you say they are). Consumables of any kind are not in the stock game in any form nor is it the intention of the core team to add them at any point; they've said as much in the development threads. It's the reason why the same Mk-1 Command Pod you sent out to the Mun will also get a Kerbal out to Eeloo and back, or why a kerbal can take a three week hike in a spacesuit.

If you're interested in having/playing with consumables, there's a mod for that.

The little monitor showing them on the bottom right seems to indicate that they are wearing pumpkin suit inside the capsule, so it's probably pressurised since that means the crew need the capability to take off the suit and put on the EVA suit when they go outside. The IVA view is just because Squad haven't got around to make the pumpkin suit model so they just reuse the EVA model.

At least the hitchhiker storage must be pressurized, because the Kerbals don't wear helmets inside.

Kerbals wear space suits all the time, even on Kerbin. So that can't really be used as evidence either way.

Nope. At least in the SPH and VAB the workers and scientist DON'T wear space suits.

During certain parts of spaceflight real-life astronauts often wear full pressure suits on missions inside their capsules for safety (because of things like this), so it's conceivable that the average Kerbal is sitting in a pressurized suit, inside of a pressurized cabin. Also, when we go on EVA we never have to wait 30 minutes of game time for a Kerbal to awkwardly don its 55 kilogram suit, so it's expedient...
