It's cool game it allow us to create single cell organism than evolve it trough all stages of evolution, into galactic empire.

I'm considering to create a creature based on Kerbals :D

What if I told you...

I have it installed in my laptop? :D

What do you think about this game, getting a little old, but still cool.

EA could do a little lifting of this game :)

No.

NOOO.

Spore that everyone wanted:

What EAChris said we get:

I had it at one point. I loved it, mainly because I never saw any of those videos on what it could have been.

Funny story: I had it for steam, and for Christmas I asked for the "Galactic Adventures" add-on. But my parents bought a disc version of it, so they had to buy me a disc version of the game.

I also had Spore Creatures, Spore Heroes, and I was part of the Beta for Darkspore.

Unfortunately, as long as EA controls Maxis, I don't think we'll ever get a good Spore, and that's if we ever get another Spore.

Yes I do, it's pretty cool...

But gets old very fast after you reach space and get strong weapons, I mean, you can just spam bombs in enemy cities and no matter how strong they are they will easily crumble.

It got borng after my first cell evolution...because that is the game from cell to space, minor alterations that hardly change anything, and then one that changes so majorly it does not feel like the same creature/object.

Even mods failed to improve it.

It really didn't live up to what you thought you were getting, sure at the space stage there was so many places you could go, people to meet, empires to build, resources to trade and wars to fight but it was all just too simple, at the end of the day past the first couple of hours, most things you did didn't feel like they had any tangible benefits, and those bleeding missions you'd get off allies, that just felt like you were wasting your time.

What the people above me said. It was fun to have my hyper-aggressive winged velociraptors running around causing chaos on the first playthrough, but the space stage got incredibly repetitive and subsequent play troughs didn't really add anything. I canned it after a week or so.

actually that is not true.

SecuROM is still there.

it is always there...

EDIT:

For those of you confused, Spore installed SecuROM on your PC when you first installed it, and it updated every install.

SecuROM limits installs to 3 to "Limit Pirates"...

Spore that everyone wanted:

-snip-

I remember seeing the drum-up for this, and it looked so amazing at the time. One of about five games I've ever bought on day of release. What a pity the released product didn't match the early demos they were showcasing. The game started off wonderfully, but was way too rushed towards the endgame, which for me just ended up being a mad dash back to the homeworld to fight off some attacker.

Every. Five. Minutes. I do think they did patch the game eventually to rebalance that a bit, but I never went back to it. Twenty hours in, I was basically done. Not what I expect, or have experienced in terms of how much of my life I have sunk into Will Wright's back-catalog.

I did make a Tachikoma species, so it did give me *that* at least.

Excellent link, thanks for that. It'd be interesting so see how successful Will Wright could be trying to kickstart 'the spore we actually promised you'.

It was one of my favourite games, but after year of playing it bored me... I really still regret that SPORE wasn't that what was supposed to be, it really hurts, that this great project was very limited (for example, you can still find beta of cell editor, which had more parts than in final relase or fauna editor, which whole was cut out). After few months EA released great DLC - Galactic Adventures, which gave second life for this game, but just for a few moths...

I'm still waiting for any information about successor of this game :(

I don't think so. I was very obscure project from unknown developer and even if someone knew - people can't to keep things in memory for such long period.

Ascendancy, very old and very good. Unfortunately today its only avaiable on iOS but they are working on a sequel.

It's also avaiable via dosbox as well as any other old game.

Or maybe you mean "buying" :) then yes, it's impossible this days.

Ascendancy was a great game, but the colony micromanagement would get unbearable once you had over a dozen colonies

I love Space Stage can you recommend my good game about colonization, terraforming and building space empire?

Master of Orion 1 and 2, Space Empires IV and V, Galactic Civilization 1 and 2, Distant Worlds, Sword of the Stars etc, etc...

Spore is great. I spend more time in the creators than the game but I still love it.
