Question on experiment numbers

Recommended Posts

So, if I've got some goo to look at and I go look at it at an alt of 500k......I'll generate a report. Now I could transmit that report home but I'll only get 40% of the science points so I'm going to store it instead and wait til recovery. If.....when I land somewhere, I reset the goo container and look again......and store that report as well.......do both reports get submitted when I recover the flight in the space centre or just the most recent one?

Just the most recent one. The only reports you can store results from multiple sites are EVA and Collected Sample reports, and then only one per site. If you want to recover (instead of transmit) multiple goo container experiments in a single flight, you have to have multiple goo containers on your ship.

Also, while transmitting results does mean you get less science from that individual experiment, the value of the next experiment you run won't be diminished as much. So if the first goo experiment is worth 10 points and recovering the experiment causes the second one to be worth 5, then transmitting the results would caused the second one to be worth 8 instead.

AFAIK, you can do that with multiple containers.

In general - I´d like to have a more-or-less complete breakdown of how science works:

- Which experiments are executable, what parts are needed and what is their base-value, respectively?

- What determines the ´data-value´? Is it fixed, does it depend on the antenna used? Are reports brought home always at 100%?

- A crew report made during EVA is ´turned in´ upon re-entering the capsule and the science rewarded immediately - as if every EVA was its own mission, sort of?

- Each experimental equipment can store one report of its kind (e.g. one goo container can strore one goo-exp-result, one capsule can store one crew report, etc)?

Sounds like the min-max way to science would be to conduct an experiment, send the data immedeately and pack it once more to-go?

- EVA reports on ground and in different heights, each on/over different kinds of territory (biomes) respectively

- goo and material container experiments in different locations/heights and atmospheric/gravitational conditions

- back home seems to be always 100%, I did not check for distance from KSC though

- EVA reports and samples are stored in the pod, they can be sent at once by "review reports" or bring them back home

- goo and material containers can store one experiment, reset deletes the data, sending it frees them up for another go, crew capsules can store one crew report and a seemingly unlimited number of EVA reports and samples
