Science from flyby's? And other science questions

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Somewhere on this forums I read about getting ''500 science from a Duna flyby'' or something like that. How does this work?

And some other questions, some people get so much science in just 3 flights. I've done more than 6 flights now and some exploration on the ground. I ''recovered'' most of the times instead of transmitting. I think I got around 25 science every time, but that's it. How do I get more science done easily? Anyone got some hints for me?

Build craft, flyby moon/planet, return craft to Kerbin, land safely, recover craft, SCIENCE!

Did you read/see were these flights lead them? Some people managed to land on the moon with even the few parts they gain from one orbital tour around Kerbin.

Do not forget to EVA and report over different biomes/landscapes of Kerbin (and storing the report in the pod, to get a new notepad for the next obviously ... ;) ), doint an EVA above these different locations are seperate experiments. After landing back on Kerbin do a quick EVA on the surface for a report and take a sample. (Do this on and next to the launch pad before you take of the first time [if you manage to built your rocket in a way that the pod is low enough for the Kerbal to reenter it].)

Surface samples on Kerbin definitely give lots of science ... most of them give around 8-10 science ...

swimming in Kerbins ocean and taking a water sample even gives you 12 science.

The reason why I always try to land my returning capsules at a terrain I haven´t covered yet and doing EVA, generating a report and taking a surface sample by this way

Thanks a lot! This helped a lot. I just did a flyby at the Mun and returned/recovered the craft. First I wanted to land it and return afterwards, but I ended up at the dark side of the Mun with no power left and not enough fuel to fix my mistake.
