stevoe26
does anyone know how to get mods to work in career mode, my mods are all running and fine in sandbox but don't seem to have any effect on career??and personally i couldn't give less of a dam about career, i like making up my own rules and role playing how i see fit. give me a set campaign and i get boredthat said i really like the flavor text and science. i don't think science should be used as an excuse to add a game mechanic, its science im looking for, data, knowledge, finding things out, not an annoying tech treei know im biased against career mode but i just want the all the updates minus career, i love the science, hate the way it makes you play a limited, unmodifiable version of the game to get it

ThirdHorseman
Whats the difference between a fully unlocked tech tree in career mode and sandbox mode? Mod support.
ThirdHorseman
What's the point of career if it's the same as sandbox but with tech tree restrictions? The point is, it has tech tree restrictions. I also assume that they will add an economy component as well at some point. Career is meant to be limiting, sandbox is open. But that doesn't mean we can't accumulate SCIENCE in sandbox even if there is nothing to do with them.
Trebuchet-Launch
I actually have one reason I like that there's no "real" science in Sandbox mode: it makes it easy to verify whether something is done in a career mode or sandbox mode save. All you need to do is take a screenshot of a working science experiment as proof. I just built my first (small) space station in career mode, for instance, and even if it takes forever to transmit down the science from the Science Jr rather than lug it back down to Kerbin, I'm still going to do it! ThirdHorseman
I'm fine with no "real" science in Sandbox mode. I'd be fine with fluff text like "Thank you for transmitting your results to Kerbal Science Academy. Your experiments have netted you 500 SCIENCE! All the scientists are away right now on break, but they will process your SCIENCE as soon as they get back!"SCIENCE points shouldn't get you anything in Sandbox mode. I'd just like to accumulate them so I can challenge myself, roleplay a little, and have another thing to do in Sandbox mode.
Ringkeeper
Mod support.as you can have every mod in the career , thats not a reason. You can add even mods on your own at any place in the techtree for any cost you like.
honolululu
In my opinion to solve all these complaints would be to have a system like civ where you can start in the 'modern era'I would imagine you are going to be able to start career mode, in the 'modern era' with all parts unlocked when Squad implements the budget portion of career mode. It seems like Sandbox will morph into simulation or testing mode, which explains the no science.Maybe there should be a tick box in options to start career mode with full tech tree and problems solved. Anyway you guys have been doing it all this time without useless points. Of all the things people can complain about, people want points they can't use? I don't mind either way, I'm all for science in sandbox if that's what people want even though I don't care about the science points, but I'm not gonna complain about that option not being there. It's like throwing a fit because someone says I'm not allowed to open a bank account to save up useless monopoly money. It's nice to have options but is it really a big deal? Why role play being a millionaire but with monopoly money? lol.
Seret
The only reason I am arguing is because I don't see any reason for disabling itWhy are you arguing with the people on this forum? No one here disabled it. If you want to discuss it with the devs, try IRC or a PM or file a bug. You're unlikely to achieve anything by posting here. sal_vager
I think we've just about reached the end of this subject, there really is nothing more anyone can add, it's a strange point to bring up anyway as this is just how the game is.This thread is devolving, actually it's dropped in quality a few times now, I think it's time we all moved on to something else. And the devs do read these threads, they do take peoples arguments on board, but the whole point of career is that you do science there, not in sandbox, it's just not the place for it.Closing for now.
