Ghost of your target's position at the highlighted portion of your orbit

Recommended Posts

This is hard to explain but would make planning orbits easier, I think.

You know how when you're going to Mun or whatever, and you get an encounter, a "ghost Mun" shows up on Mun's orbital path to show you about where it will be during that encounter? I want that for everything. Also, I want that ghost to move up and down its orbit as you move your mouse cursor (or maneuver node) up and down your orbit.

That way, you can more easily plan a maneuver, or just get a really good visual on where exactly things will be at any time during a close encounter.

This should also work on projected paths after a maneuver node.

No I don't want to change how my predicted path goes. I want to see where my non-planetary target will be when I'm at a future point in my orbit. Ideally, I could drag a maneuver node up and down my orbital path and see a dot predicting where my space station will be when my ship is at that maneuver node.

It's already in the game, but not as a form of a ghost.

When you have a target, and an encounter is close, you will see those two arrow (kind of grey/blueish), one for your name encounter and with all the encounter info, and one for the target named target position. That target position will let you know where the target is as you play with the node.

this had been planned and considered during the course of whatever update it was that gave us maneuver nodes... it was then made somewhat obsolete since whenever you set a target and plan an intercept trajectory insertion, you'll get the projected position of your target at the moment/position your orbits "cross"

it kinda makes the whole thing somewhat moot - except in the one case of trying to track a target that's not in an orbit that intersects your own at any point, i.e. concentric circular orbits...

then it does get a little inconvenient indeed.

I know about those. The fact that they don't always show up is what made me wish for the ghost. I don't want to know where it is sometimes, at a specific time, if the game decides that they're close enough. I want to know where it is at this exact point here.

But if they already considered it and decided against it, I guess it's probably not going to happen. It's not like a NEED or anything it would just be convenient.
