NEW SERIES! Lazy Grand Tour!

In my newest series, I'll be doing a Grand Tour. But only AFTER I've fully colonized the entire system (Except Eve. I mean come on.) and have at least one refueling outpost in each planet's SOI.

KSP Fundamentals is still on hiatus.

Old Series:

  • Bases (Also Season 2), the original series. Bugs and grind ended this one after over 100 episodes
  • Kerpollo, where I do an Apollo-Style mission to each landable world in the game.
  • Teamwork, where people built ships for me to fly.
  • Quest For Snacks, where I tried out life support.
  • Bases 0.90, where I tried to recreate my first series.
  • Contractor, where I tried many different contracts.
  • KSP New Horizons is not strictly cancelled, but no promises.
  • Anomaly Surveyor, where I visit each Easter Egg in the game using a Contract Configurator pack.
  • KSP 1.2 PreRelease, where I just had some fun doing a quick career, testing all the new stuff in 1.2.

Here's the "big list of names" for the current series, Lazy Grand Tour. Whenever I need a new Kerbal (or one is born, if that ever happens) I'll just take the first name on this list, editing the gender and profession of the Kerbal to fit. If you requested a profession and I don't need that profession, I'll skip your name until I need your preferred profession.

How I do it:

I use 2 pieces of software: OBS to record video and audio, and VideoPad to edit it together.

I start KSP from the command line using the switch -popupwindow (and with "full screen" UNCHECKED in settings) to run it in a full screen window, and once it's all loaded and I'm where I want to start recording, I hit F10 (Not the default, but I set it up that way) to start recording OBS. It's open on a 2nd monitor so I can see it's recording. I then do my let's play, hitting F10 to stop and start recording as necessary. I almost never forget to restart recording :wink:

When all done, I load all the video snippets into VideoPad and chop out the stuff I don't want, do some trickery with subtitles to name the episode and put little asides in where I want them, slap in my intro and whatnot, and then create the final episode which eventually gets uploaded to YouTube.

It's a lot easier than the way I used to do it with FRAPS and Audacity. I do sacrifice the ability to handle the levels of audio in post, but it's well worth the time savings.
