I think the fact that the spacecraft will come to a halt when the engine shuts down more than offsets the OP nature of the rocket itself.

Indispensable advice for Newbies:

-The most important thing in rocket design is to get as much thrust as possible. Burn until you are out of fuel, and let momentum carry you up into orbit.

-If your rocket struggles to make orbit, adding more fuel is the most efficient way to fix the problem.

-Always remember your parachutes for a landing on the Mun. They will make your descent much easier.

-Spaceplanes are the simplest part of the game. You shouldn't even think about dabbling with rockets until you have fully mastered spaceplanes.

-If you are experiencing lag, add more struts to your rocket. Lots of wobbling puts strain on your processor.

Kerbals build everything springy. One can achieve escape velocity simply by firing a brace of boosters downwards to compress them. Once the boosters are shed, your rocket will leap skywards and soon leave Kerbin behind.

Eve is one of the easiest places to go to and get back from. You should really try it!

To save weight, do not put any ladders on your Eve and Tylo landers.

Best method of landing is an agressive lithobraking with your engines.

- Never press "T" on the launchpad. Your Kerbals will panic if the "SAS" button is activated and its easier without this overly complicated technical things.

As a newbie I found on launching:

-Best altitude for gravity turn is about 3,000 meters ASL.

-Optimal apoapsis for final Kerbin orbit is about 60,000 - 70,000 meters ASL.

When it comes to rovers, the faster the better. As long as you get your speed above 50 m/s, there is no chance of crashing. For unknown reasons, at this speed hitting 'B' crashes the game.
