I've been playing around trying to add in some more cloud types

For example, high-altitude cirrus clouds

85jBx.png

I've also messed about with the volumetric cloud texture

85jHA.png

BONUS, in collaboration with Nutt007, Hazy Laythe with fog and soon to come, storms!

I have a question though, is it possible to have multiple cloud "types" that use their own particle textures? I think it would be especially cool to have a cloud layer be the aurora and have a "plasma-y" particle, so you can actually fly through them. Btw, did I mention that this mod is great?

I was actually thinking of doing something similar. Those looks really good :)

Btw, did i mention the fog looks fantastically fabulous?

Do you mean no clouds in general? Like, not even default ones? Did you merge the folder, or replace the WHOLE boulderco?

No clouds at all. I placed your BoulderCo into the gamedata with the original boulderco and replaced/merged them.

On my to-do list :)

Uh, Rbray, I don't really think my pack can do what it *wants* to do, until you fix your saving. You can NOT save anything under the advanced settings. Everytime you re launch the game, you have to re do the settings.

Haha, this is also on my to-do list. Implement something like the distant object enhancement, except utilizing geometry and shaders.

Oooh, I like that idea. Distant Object Enhancements has become another one of my must-have mods. At first it felt eerie having no stars showing when a planet or the sun was in view, but now it just looks weird to me when I see other players' pics and vids and the skybox is glaring brightly at all times.

Please correct me if I am wrong here or if this has already been discussed/suggested.

The current clouds are 'just' a spherical texture rotating around the planet. And volumetric clouds are generated based on that texture. Right? Since PNG files can be animated what stopping this mod from using an animated cloud layer? Imagine clouds or even complete weather systems forming and dissolving in front of your eyes.

OK, making a seamless looping texture might be difficult and it will be significantly bigger than a static one, this should be possible. (As long of course KSP/Unity can handle animated PNG textures.)

Memory. The texture is 8K and takes up a ridiculous amount of memory as it is.

Dat Sirrus cloud.. DANG! It'd be cool if sunrise/set sun light faded into red (diffraction) at morning/evening to illuminate the tops of the clouds with pinky/red glow like this..

rbray; what are the capabilities of the volumetric billboards in terms of the lighting engine? Can they cast shadows onto ground (and themselves?) and be 'shone' on by other light sources? I'm just wandering what the possibilities of unity currently are in terms of lighting and your method of cloud generation
