Did I win the Kerbal lottery?

That was my thought when I took a look around my probe yesterday. I mean, what are the odds of dropping your non-mobile first probe on a planet, in an unguided descent (beyond, "hey, that crater floor looks flattish, I'll de-orbit in that general direction"), without any prior mapping of the area, and having it land within sight of an anomaly?

"What a nice planet, lets start doing Scie-hey, what's that over there?"

*zooms out and swings the camera view around* "!!!"

Needless to say, there's now a Kerballed mission en-route to explore and flaggify the object.

Yes, if that mission landed TRULY in a semi-random location. You are quite lucky indeed.

Yeah, there's going to be nay-sayers who wont be satisfied with anything short of a FRAPS film from install to landing, but I don't care, I found my first anomaly through cosmic coincidence!

Same, I did a Mun landing mission once and landed near-ish to one of the anomolies. Admitidly I have probably done close to 500 mun landings so it was bound to happen eventually.

In my first Mun Probes mission in my LP series, while scouting out craters to land in, I flew right by an arch. I'd found an arch (but not this one) before by looking it up and going there, but this was the very first thing I found totally on my own and I was so excited I botched that part of the mission, trying to turn my ship around and go find it.

Later, I sent a new ship to the same location and found the arch, landing nearby it.

It may be dumb but it's still one of my favorite single incidents in my entire time playing the game

I landed a very short EVA jetpack flight away from the Armstrong Monument on the Mun, and now Jebediah is standing atop it.
