So a funny thing happened in one of my more recent games:

I can see it now...

"Comrade Chief Designer, one of our technical manuals has gone missing!"

"WHAT?! That's horrible! What if it falls into the hands of the filthy American capitalists?"

"Have no fear, Comrade Chief Designer, for I have taken precautions just in case such a thing should happen!"

"Ah, excellent, Comrade Underpaid Menial Technician! And what is the nature of this deception you have played upon the foolish Yankees?"

"Why, I switched the positions of the 'ON' and 'OFF' labels in the diagrams!"

"...I see. Tell me, comrade, have you ever wanted to take a vacation to the Lena River Delta?"

So I downloaded the game and am going to suq.

Only problem is, I'm stuck here:

I can't get out of the character naming box. Also, what are the best settings for a newb?

EDIT: I figured it out and am playing both sides. Also, I am horrible.

It definitely helps to be earlier than the enemy with reching certain goals, so that his funding gets cut and yours increases ...

nevertheless sometimes a victory isn´t a true victory because you took so long

The russians just landed on the moon, and I'm just sitting here. Doing mercury fly-bys.

Yep.

It's annoying as hell, and all odds are against you. On my fourth game, the russians had just launched their first person into space, and I was already doing a manned lunar orbit. The poor guys burned up on reentry because the (researched to the max) Apollo heatshield didn't survive.

It's fun anyway.

Lovell, Collins, and Amstrong. Perfect lunar mission, and they drowned on landing because of a faulty hatch! I'm about to throw my laptop out the window.
