Riddles

But which one? Many of the lines are multiple choice.

Line one: Am or Pu (reversed)?

Line two: Thanks for finally narrowing it down to a major component. N or O?

Line three: Stars cannot form H, or are we wrong on that too?

Line four: At is generally assumed to be the rarest, but wiki says it turns out Bk is (halfway down, under "Natural Occurrence"). Or are both completely wrong?

Line five: Consensus says an alkali metal (only seven to choose from:confused:, each more reactive with water than the last) or Calcium. Or are we wrong again?

Sorry if I sound sarcastic, but the vagueness has been frustrating. And there's no clue whatsoever for what the final word should be, aside from an anagram.

Well, time to say more about that seemingly-overlooked detail with the next pair of clues.

One beyond the planets reversed.

One in airs of Earth dispersed.

One that stars just cannot form.

One that's rarer than them all.

Lots you shouldn't in water dissolve.

Mix around, this riddle to solve.

Clue 1: As a few people have surmised, each of the first five lines refers to a different element. The answer, though, is nothing to do with chemistry.

Clue 2: First figure out what element is "beyond the planets", then reverse that element.

Clue 3: The second line refers to one of the main gases in Earth's atmosphere.

Clue 4: I wouldn't expect stars to produce heavy elements by fusion, but what about light ones?

Clue 5: The rare element is Astatine. No great surprise there.

clue 6: The fifth line refers to one element, repeated lots of times. So the overall answer includes the same one or two letter sound repeated over and over, plus a word or words made from the previous four lines.

na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na batman!

Hallelujah!

Hallelujah!

Hallelujah!

It is indeed the Batman Theme (the one from the old cartoons). The elements being Americium (Am/mA), Nitrogen (N), Boron (B), Astatine (At), and Sodium (Na).

And blame jokes such as this graphic for inspiring the vexatious riddle.

That's too culture-specific.

What's with Americium? Do you mean plutonium => americium decay? 0_o or we consider pluto still a planet for this case? Looked at the periodic table -

*hits the big red Staples button* -"That was easy!" I was afraid of that, but I couldn't seem to think of anything else. Gotta balance the hard ones with easy ones, you know. I Also would have accepted wood. I should have taken more time, I guess.
