Well, now, that's morbid. Nope! :)

A playful thing,

Lost amidst the living spires,

Waiting and wandering

With neither reason nor end.

Many sorrowful things,

Cast into the crying abyss,

Tumbling over and down

Into the darkness' blend.

Many vengeful things,

Astride the roiling pitch,

Rent asunder, cast about,

Turned about and cast aside.

One solitary thing,

Adrift in the open glades,

Pausing to watch the passing

Of the armies on the tide.

Who are we?

Live bodies - ie people?
...nope.
does this thing have a dual personality ?

a leaf ? like it does glide and is in among trees, cast aside and burned....

Everything that exists has multiple 'personalities', as you put it... so I don't know what you're getting at. It's not a leaf, though. :)

...The internet?

Or an old webpage.

reasoning:

A playful thing,

Lost amidst the living spires,

Waiting and wandering

With neither reason nor end.

Old webpages tend to stick around. Not that anyone looks at them. It is "lost" in the living spires (the internet that is active today). It is waiting, and wandering (okay, wandering might have me stumped), but it is without reason (or forseeable end)

Many sorrowful things,

Cast into the crying abyss,

Tumbling over and down

Into the darkness' blend.

Many a sad story has been posted to the internet.

Many vengeful things,

Astride the roiling pitch,

Rent asunder, cast about,

Turned about and cast aside.

...okay to be fair I have no idea about this one

One solitary thing,

Adrift in the open glades,

Pausing to watch the passing

Of the armies on the tide.

The open glades is the internet. the solitary thing could be a user, or the webpage. Pausing to watch the armies (all the information on the 'net).

Who are you? My friend, you are one of the following: Internet, Old Webpage, or an internet user (okay, that's somewhat a stretch, but nobodies been able to figure it out so far, and I suck at riddles, but I figured i'd give it a go)

For the record, IF THIS IS RIGHT, I am terrible at making riddles, so if it turns out i'm right the next person to post can have it. (As per the rules in the OP)

Nope!
Might be time for another stanza before we all have aneurysms trying to figure this one out. (Great riddle though, vexx32, it's the stumpers that are most fun. :))
Yeah, probably. I'll see what I can do. :P

Nope, sorry. :D

I'll start working on another verse. Though, knowing me, it'll only make things harder for y'all. :P

Sounds? 10char
Nope! :)

Let's add another verse...

A playful thing,

Lost amidst the living spires,

Waiting and wandering

With neither reason nor end.

Many sorrowful things,

Cast into the crying abyss,

Tumbling over and down

Into the darkness' blend.

Many vengeful things,

Astride the roiling pitch,

Rent asunder, cast about,

Turned around and cast aside.

One solitary thing,

Adrift in the open glades,

Pausing to watch the passing

Of the armies on the tide.

A few subdued, gentle things,

Looking back from on high,

Their souls flecked with scars,

Returning to their worried kin.

Who are we?
