what about 3D printing

also back to the riddle how about ice

3D printing is building, aye. Not sure where you were going with that. It's printing in a more strict sense since it is reconstructing an image in three dimensions using a source 'image'.

Nope :)

Thoughts?

Maybe?

Nope :)

Sorry, nope :)

Since when do people 'grow' bricks and stones?

Here's the riddle again if y'all need a refresher:

Millions and millions and billions of I,

All lined up in rows, straight and sly.

Neither beaten fast nor bound together,

Me, I'm grown just once, ever so clever.

If evil approaches from beside or beneath,

Die we shall upon the midnight heath.

Shifting and shrieking amongst my kin,

We stand tall and strong despite the din;

Sometimes twining skyward up to heaven,

Sometimes crawling over ground unriven.

Build us small, and we may murmur,

But build us tall and our voices shimmer.

Who are we?

Does the "Shifting and shrieking" bit refer to metal?

And are these things alive (Can they think for themselves?)

Other than that I would suggest... [due to lack of funding, your brain has stopped recieving Starwhip's message. Please try again later.]

(In other words I got nothin'.)

Dang it Vexx, your riddles are too hard!

Another guess:

Plants are out.

Metal is out.

Organic building materials are out.

I guess brick!

You can lay it on the ground, or build it up. If you hit it form the side, it breaks easily, and if you hit the top, it's much harder to break. There are many bricks when making a brick structure (Captain Obvious). Also, bricks tend to be lined up vertically or horizontally in straight lines. Along with that, knock the structure down, it "murmurs" or "(voices) shimmers" when it hits the ground or itself.

I wasn't aware bricks are grown. :P

Nope :)

Here 'tis again if you need a reminder.

Indeed it does refer to a specific molecule. Which is why I realised, belatedly -- last night, in fact -- that I've gone and made a ridiculously difficult riddle that is primarily difficult simply because it's a random bit of trivia, that I picked up god knows where, that few people will in fact know.

It's a long fibrous molecule found in trees. Name it. Normally I wouldn't be so darn obvious, but I have made this so very hard for you folks... sorry. :(

i am guessing wood fibers maybe
While probably close enough, I made it so darn obvious I'm going to be a little picky with it ehehe.
cellulose?
That's the one. Your turn.

I'll have to make sure I do better next time, eh?
