Land speed record

Recommended Posts

Alrighty people, here's the plan.

Who can get the fastest possible speed with their wheels still touching the ground. Gotta be on Kerbal, I don't really care where...

Must post screenshot with speed.

Please list your mods that you use.

I will keep track of the first 10 placings.

Here's mine:

I used KW rocketry and B9 Aerospace.

Its just rocket and alot of fuel.

Rather than not caring where on Kerbal the attempt is made, why not make it like a drag strip and see who can achieve the highest speed by the time they reach the end of the runway. Having said that, there have already been speed challenges such as this, why not add a twist. See who can reach the highest speed before hitting the brakes and stopping before they go off the end of the runway. Obviously that challenge would need two screenshots - one of the speed achieved and another showing the vehicle stationary and still on the runway.

Hmmmm...

Is staging allowed or do we need to get the whole vehicle up the speed?

Are wheels mandatory or can we also use something else as long as we maintain contact with ground (sled)?

But when mods are allowed ... everything is possible. OP engines, indestructible wheels, ...

I've made infini-drive's that can go at 1130m/s (no cfg edits, just old TT wheels and a few other structural bits), I think it's the only way to beat the sepratron spammers :)

Some more specific rules would be good, like must come to a stop in one piece and be re-useable/re-fuelable and piloted. More like a traditional land speed record.

How does one make an infinidrive?
It's a bug that only works with certain wheels, the more downforce the faster they go and the faster they go the more downforce created. I think TT put some code in his latest version to stop it happening, I've only managed 450m/s with those.
