so i v been looking and have not found any info on if i can put Science on a part.

but what id like to do also is have this give over time a very low amount of SP's

like say i put a telsat network up id like to give it a first time say 20 SP's for every sat i put up and connect, and then over the course of a long period of time get some more. like .01 sp a day with a active network and as long as i keep the connection, to a max amount of Sp

Currently, you only get science points when you actively do something: either transmitting the results of a test, or recovering ships. But I've also thought that it would be interesting if there were low-level but on-going experiments, such as a station slowly collecting data on Kerbal biology in other environs. But that would require a re-scaling of the tech tree invention costs, so you couldn't just leave a station sitting on fast-forward for a while and have an FTL drive fall out of it. :)

ok thanks at least some one is think of this as well.

now that i can't do what i wanted to, can i put this in to a sat dish so when i aim, activate it i can get sp from it?

if so how would i go about it.

Well it could be something like 10 science per day with diminishing returns

Sorry, it's not clear to me what you're asking. Currently, you must click on an instrument, Kerbal, or capsule to acquire science results, then either transmit it or recover the ship carrying it to use the points. That's two active, uh, actions, and nothing accrues passively. And by the way, there's no need to aim the antennas; the dish is just for looks. :)

It is an idea that could appear in future updates, the ability to collect science points on orbiting, landed, or deep space probes that have instruments sending back information on an automated basis over a given lifetime for that probe. Science could also be collected on Kerbals orbiting in space or on deep space missions. However, like the current research, there would be a diminishing return for duplicating such experiments. Perhaps, when cost of launching rockets get added to Career Mode, that would also limit attempts to spam space with numerous probes doing the same thing.

Lets be patient and see what the Dev come up with in future updates.

Hurm...Unless this low level science generation say a byproduct of doing other science. So, you goto the mun, get some rocks and drop them off at your station. The Mun rocks make you allot of science instantly. But then you have the research on the rocks, they are a project that takes time, so that generates a trickle of science as described. This way you need to have a constant flow of science in to get that trickle, other wise your Kerbals run out of things to look into.

The cool thing could be that you also would not need to reassess the science tree. Instead the science generated could be applied to the parts it originally unlocked. 0.1% increases to ISP ratings for engines, a little more fuel, a little less weight, a little better transmission capability. Small incremental increases to parts that would take a good amount of science to get. That way your using the science and just do not plateau when you hit the end of the tree.

A thought...

I like this idea and I think Atwood

Squad is making a science lab module for .23. In the meantime, there is the interstellar mod. I haven't got the science to work yet tho. I Am orbiting minmus for .3 science per day but it isn't adding to science pool

I think the Science Lab, as described, will only allow you a place to take things you collect to get full credit. That way you do not need to land on Kerbin to get 100% with those samples from where ever.
