Fraz86
A small hydroponics farm (as seen in the illustration posted above) would be really cool. I'd also love to see some kind of exercise equipment, somewhere for the Kerbals to sleep, and supply storage.
cy-one
Pleeeeaaase Porkjet, could you let us download some kind of... v0.3 of this? without animations and stuff, just the "inflated module?"I really love the design and would like to use it, even without an animation :

I'd also love to see some kind of exercise equipment, somewhere for the Kerbals to sleep, and supply storage.I'm actually working on a farm right now! Somewhere to sleep and storage will also be made, not sure about exercise yet, maybe later.Pleeeeaaase Porkjet, could you let us download some kind of... v0.3 of this? without animations and stuff, just the "inflated module?"I really love the design and would like to use it, even without an animation :3Yes. I'll just get the IVA rough and ready and upload it here for you to play and test. That internal model is just taking WAY more time to make than I expected.I guess I'll leave it without an animation for now and get back to that later. schoff123
I'd say that the duct tape patches on the wall demonstrate that it's not meant to be taken as "a joke" except at the expense of the kerbals, rather than one perpetrated by a trickster as part of the crew. I agree that it's probably a bit in poor taste, even if meant as a joke; kerbals may take dumb risks, but I don't believe they're suicidal. That said, I'm impressed by the modmaker's skills, and I wish you the best of luck as you work the bugs out, Porkjet I don't think they are suicidal either. Of course they used a triple walled Kylar skin reinforced with woven Kervlar strands, plus insulation of some K-word sort. Right??? Right. So a little hole in one layer wont do much. As said by some before "Duct tape is like the force: it has a light side, a dark side, and holds everything together."
Nibb31
I guess I'll leave it without an animation for now and get back to that later.Hmmm... Isn't the whole point of an inflatable that it's animated? If you're having trouble getting the animation working, I'm pretty sure that some kind modder here can help you with it. XanderTek
Just tried it out. Works well, no problems so far. You may not be happy with the IVA, but honestly I think it's better than most finished mods. Once you get the animation working, I'd consider it a completed part. Now that I'm thinking about animations and IVAs though... I'm not sure I've ever seen an inflatable part with an IVA. What happens when it's collapsed? I don't think you can change to a different IVA, but I suppose Kerbals shouldn't even be allowed in there in that state so maybe it doesn't matter.Keep up the good work! I particularly enjoyed the pillow fort.
TheSuperintendnt
1) That is a beautiful module you have there2) To do the animations perhaps the IVA space and the part itself shrink and boarding/IVA become unavailable?3) Also just going to point out that if kerbals can build working rocketry components out of junk and garbage then they are VERY intelligent(though they may lack common sense at times)!and as a side note the concept of "stupidity", remember there is many forms of stupidity. Also PorkJet feel free to use any of the concepts in my signature. Porkjet
Glad you like it!About the animations, ideally while deflated it would be impossible to enter the module, and while kerbals were inside it, it would be impossible to deflate it. This would be realistic and no changing of the IVA model when deflated would be necessary. But I got no clue how to add that restriction. I'd probably need some sort of script or plugin but I'm not a programmer. What's much more important though is making the actual animation, anything further would just be the icing on the cake. Also PorkJet feel free to use any of the concepts in my signature.I like your concepts! Especially the Pod-like centrifuge. I just watched 'Europa Report' and they had a very similar centrifuge. I'm definetly interrested in making one like that in the future, along with a Ring shaped one. Maybe the pod-like centrifuge could be the bigger brother with bigger crew capacity and unlocked in a later tech-tree than the ring-shaped one. satcharna
Look into using a plugin to change the stats of the part to 0 kerbal capacity when deflated and whatever number you wish when inflated. You could look at the module B9 Aerospace uses for the SABRE engines, which can switch between jet mode and rocket mode. It could probably be modified to make a variable pod. TheSuperintendnt
Theoretically you could use a basic plugin to detect the state of the animation/module and change it then, I will have to look into this as I've been meaning to anyhow. TimMartland
You should adapt this into a big stockalike parts pack eventually - you have real skill and I hope you continue to make awesome mods!
XanderTek
I took a look at the old BASE inflatable hab, and it doesn't use any special plugins or modules. Aside from a single ModuleAnimateGeneric, the cfg file is very basic. I can only conclude that causing the hatch to be active or not is entirely part of the animation. Porkjet
Animation added!DownloadAlso included is a new Part, the Orbital Orb. A Soyuz-style living module, which is going to be the smallest hab in my collection.Basically its a half-hitchhiker cabin. Can contain 2 Kerbals and weighs 1.2 tons. I'm not sure if anyone even wants this thing, but I did, so I made it.The attach nodes are slightly "intruded" to make docking ports stick out less. The shielded docking-port is flush with the rest of the model, which I thought was cool. Can also be used to make a (mostly) stock Soyuz Spacecraft of course. sojourner
Hmmm, it inflates when selected in the VAB, but there is no option to inflate/deflate on the pad. It's inflated by default. Is that going to change?
jfull
Oh, the Orbital Orb might make a neat Escape Pod
sojourner
Ok here's another. place an orbiter orb on a ship then attach a hitchhiker. When you go to the pad the hitchhiker has become another orb.Caused by duplicate name in the part.cfg file. Prime flux
Nice! I do like the Orb,But there is something wrong with the animation in part.cfg the for the inflatable hab.MODULE{name = ModuleKrAnimationextendAnim = hab_inflate1extendGUI = InflateretractGUI = DeflateSound_inflate = Inflate}this works, but it does not plays the soundMODULE{ name = ModuleAnimateGeneric animationName = hab_inflate1 startEventGUIName = Inflate endEventGUIName = DeflateSound_inflate = Inflate}
