[WIP][TechTree @ 0.23.5] - [MS19e] - Realistic Progression LITE

Hey!

I'm using this tech-tree along with the Realism Overhaul modpack (all essentials + most recommended + a few supported mods).

And I'm stuck :)

I can't get anything into high-orbit. Not with ralistic rockets at least. I know the easy answer would be MOAR BOOSTERS, but if I'd want that, then I wouldn't play with realism overhaul.

I can't keep my cryo-fed engines cool enough, that might help.

I researched the starting Rocket and Booster techs, I have 6 others researched besides the starting technology, and 300 RPs.

So... what's the next step?

Also if this is only a dev-thread, is there a discussion thread?

I'm not really sure what do you mean though :)

Until MS19 I'm better off in sandbox?

Oh it was more of a general adress for the experiments. But yeah, I'd wait for Milestone 19. 18 was more of a proof of concept and to test the waters for interest. And well, people seem definitely interested. So here we go! :)

EDIT: I was supposed to build my wife her new PC this weekend, but I'm sacrificing myself for you guys to work on RPL! Keep your fingers crossed that I don't get attacked or anything. ;) (I'm kidding, she's amazing to put up with me! And so are you guys/gals!)

OK,

So here is the full list of the experiments that will come with the initial release of MS19. I had to stop at 24.

This is 11 more than what we had for MS18 (which had only 13). Why only 11 more? Because as I mentioned in previous replies, MS18 was more of a proof of concept of the plugin/tree, and sort to guage whether other people would be interested in this idea. And well, woo! lol :) So these are all brand new ones.

Also, these experiments are more in line with the achievements accomplished or aimed for by either the US or USSR. So you will notice that there is no sample return in all those 24 experiments. You've got an assortment of readings, some have had their experiments renamed for flavor of the accomplishments for the probes they represent.

Another big step, I'm keeping the best for last. The tree shuffle... ugh... And don't you go thinking it's some sort of hippy dance. It's not. And there is not much pleasure in it. lol. :D I want a wunderbar.

EDIT 2: All that copy pasting apparently gave me a weird tension in my pinky as if sprang the muscle. lol Crazy!

Um, I think you meant Venera? Unless you were trying to kerbalize it but none of the other names are.

Anyway, looks great! Are you planning on adding more experiments later? (sample return, other planets etc)

Hehe, yup it's kerbalized. ;) Because it's more of a placeholder for now. :)

I'll go for smaller /quick updates after MS19.

And of course I intend to add return samples and all the other planets. Just had to pick a point to stop if people can get to play with it soon!!

I spend many time for searching information about ascending, landing, orbit calculation for satellites and etc. Maybe need to create wiki for KSP-community(wikia.com e.g.)? Where people can write articles about KSP-mods and other suggestions information. I find good posts on this forum that explain necessary things, but very hard to read tons of forum pages...

Thank you for trying out RPL and for your feedback. There is no RPL wiki per say, but as Aazard mentioned there are KSP wikis already available. Perhaps once things iron themselves out, we could pool feedback and do a FAQ of sorts. Right now I'm just 100% MS19 or die mode.

I'm used to working with 3 monitors, 1 died about 2-3 months ago, and last week my wife's monitor died... So I'm with a single monitor. Very lame for working lol. But the funny part is that I ordered 2 new monitors for myself, and would you believe me if I said I got red stuck/dead pixels on both of them. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN. And it was cool, one was when the screen was dark, and the other monitor's dead/stuck pixel would show when it was bright. Sick fate joke? I know not.

It's like life is refusing to let me work in peace... /shake fist

Really like the mod and that list of new experiements look f*cking awsome. Do you have any Idea when you will realese MS 19? Decided to stop playing till then, since it will break save.

I'm going to give stabs at it every evening, and on Wednesday my wife is leaving for Toronto for work. And so I'll have the entire evening to try and pull it off. I'm hoping to get something out for this weekend. I might get annoyed and clip a few things here and there, but at least we'll have something to sink our teeth in.

I haven't played KSP for months now, and I kind of miss it. lol

Take some time to play. There's no point denying yourself fun up to get done to a schedule. If you're having code trouble again I might be able to help out.

Doh, I just realized that I forgot to findangle a Sputnik 3 probe! I'll use the Rockomax Large Adapter. I know, it's so accurate. To keep things simple I'll take some liberty and stretch it to 2 meter base, and 3.5 meters in height. Life is hard you know.

I'm hoping that Frizzank will continue to make actual models for probes, so i'll just switch them out as they come. ;) Like you guys won't have to enjoy my amazing interpretation of Explorer 1 since he released it in on one of the latest versions! :)

I think that wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com only about stock KSP. So information about building relay network(RT2 mod) will be there junk...

I see what you mean. What I could suggest is taking a peek at each of the mod pages, so that in of itself will be a good dose of information for the mods. I think RT2 has a very elaborate OP, with explanation how each module functions. So in a way, you can use the RPL first post on this thread as a link bank to check out all of them.

But I do agree we could maybe have a post on this forum or something to gather more information about the realism mods.

Watch your back then. Mergers tend to mean people will claim to have ideas or done work that someone else did to ensure they don't get picked as redundant. Make sure everyone knows what work you do and how well till the post merger bloodbath ends.

Luckily I was previously employed at the purchasing company. And would dare say I left in good terms and have good ties with key people. And I think my work history speaks for itself, I'll go down in flames if I need to and feel the company is giving me a chance at success. That's a bit of a problem in some circumstances, IE lead to exhaustion. But I think companies tend to like those who will give their all. /fingers crossed!

RPL NEWS:

I'm having some really silly problems with sputnik 3. So he'll go and die in a fire for now, I'll work on doing in game verification that all the other experiments work(Shouldn't be any problems since the concept tests worked fine, but I want to see for myself). Then slip in some generic ones. Fix the tree and boom! Party time!
