So, I was thinking on getting X: Rebirth...

Oh I'm sure its a fine game, but its totally broken. Then even after the future patches you gotta deal with the grade-school dialogue and animations. It's seriously pathetic. Watch a few impression videos. You be turned away as soon as the main character opens his mouth. And then it just gets worse.

Whenever i get an x game, the first thing i do is build my galactic trade empire and try to monopolise an industry.

I find the campaigns boring. I will be playing x4 because i havent played one in a while. I do want a hardcopy however as I like to have the manual as a reference guide for the different ship classes cos i always forget.

Whilst I will admit that ksp has ruined almost every science fiction anything i have ever played or watched ever...but The x series were never about the the combat and physics for me. Its all about the trade empire!

It looks like a console game that has been ported to the PC.

Stuck in one ship - kills sense of progression and roleplay. I want to start off in a weak ship and be able to progress into a better ship. I don't want to start off in something that offers no challenge.

Fly around stations and click around to unlock discounts? Trading requires no brain power or effort. It should have been expanded off of the supply and demand system from the other titles.

I blame the current gaming economy. There's just too much pandering to casual gamers.

It seems to me like all those space flying games (that totally ignore physics) are pretty boring. The environments are just endless empty spaces filled with Asteroids and space stations, and planets are just part of the background that you can't reach. And just flying from station to station via some kind of "space highway", or what your fancy Gate is called, trading stuff and fighting boring fights seems like the most boring stuff to me at least.

(please tell me if there are some space shooters are different from my description, i would appreciate it)

Shattered Horizon's a pretty good space shooter as far as I can tell (can barely play it on my laptop though)
