Hi all, pretty excited about the challenges I've read here. :) Does anybody have a decent delta-v map for the new bodies, yet?

I've put some data in the thread about Ablate.

It's a huge dV challenge. I don't think I'm able to land a manned capsule there and I'm sure getting it back would be a ton of work because you'd need to assemble a monstrosity in Kerbin's orbit just to bring some fuel to your stranded Kerbal. It would take a great number of framerate smashing missions to reach home. Some places simply aren't meant to be visited in person.

Congratulations to Kragrathea for making Vulcan a reality. :)

I only wish the name was better. Ablate is not a very good name. Vulcan is taken for the hypothetical planet, but Hephaestus (Greek deity equivalent to Roman Vulcan) is a nice one.

Sentar takes about 2500 m/s delta-v to get to from low Kerbin orbit, not including the inclination change. It takes about 1000 m/s to capture. Flying around in the Sentar system takes surprisingly little delta-v since Sentar has a low mass. Ringle is the same size as Tylo, Erin is the same size as Laythe, Skelton is the same size as Duna (except its atmosphere is a lot thicker so it's harder to take off from). And Thud takes about 2000 m/s to go from low orbit to capture/escape and about 4500 m/s to land on or take off from.

Serious takes about 2700 m/s to get to from LKO, and 2000 m/s to match Joker's orbit. Joker is the same size as Minmus.

I have small suggestion about tweaking this laythe-like mmoon... its just to symilar to.. laythe.

Just change color of lakes. Maybe green fluid woudl be okay. This woudl give this moon fresh feel.

Did you change the descriptions in the celestial bodies since the previous version? If not, I have some suggestions, though they're only for the bodies in the Sun system, as I haven't tried the new version due to the several bugs reported.

Ablate

There has been a lot of controversy regarding Ablate's existence. Similarly to Laythe, when it was first discovered, it didn't enter the records because the scientists in charge thought the astronomer was looking at Moho. Eventually, another astronomer was observing Moho and noticed a small dot at the Sun, which hinted towards the existance of Ablate.

Eventually, Moho's status as closest planet to the Sun was revoked and given to Ablate. Several infuriated Kerbals who love planet Moho caused riots across Kerbin's cities, causing Ablate to be downgraded to a dwarf planet and for Moho to retrieve its status as closest planet to the Sun.

Inacessable

There is still controversy whether Inacessable is an actual planet in the sky or not. Its abnormally high rotation speed often makes Kerbals believe it is not a celestial object and is rather a spying device made by tall, biped creatures with five fingers from outer space, though astronomers guarantee us it's a real planet.

Acension

Acension has long been an intriguing dwarf planet to Kerbality. Its incredibly eccentrical orbit with an apoapsis that gives Sentar's a run for it's money and a periapsis close enough to high-five the Sun often makes Kerbals mistake it for a comet.

In fact, now that I speak of it, Acension MAY be a comet wandering across the Sun...hmm...

Sentar

An unique planet due to its rings and sometimes considered as Jool's sister planet, Sentar has long been considered in mythology to be full of oceanic life. According to Kerbal archeologists, the name translates into Kerbal as ratnes or "to stand". Significant? I doubt it...

Skelton

Skelton has long been known for its nasty habit of tricking astronomers into believing that it is Duna. In fact, it has been first discovered centuries before Duna and has since then been confused for the nearer red planet, until seven year old amateur astronomer Skelton Kerman noticed Sentar in the background, identifying that it is, in fact, not Duna.

Skelton Kerman was then moved up to university and granted an one year long term of advanced astronomy for free.

Erin

Erin has long been known for its high ammounts of puddles. Often considered Sentar's equivalent of Jool's Laythe, Kerbals across the world had long been considering to set a new civilization on Erin due to its similarity to Kerbin.

Well, it's similar, if you don't count the abnormally high ammount of puddles across one side of the moon, the thinner atmosphere, the fact that it's a moon of a Gas Giant, and the further distance to the Sun...actually, it isn't very similar, is it? This sounds like the same Kerbals who think Eve is Kerbin's sister planet.

Pock

After the controversy that happened when Pock was discovered, due to it being a moon orbiting another moon, astronomers decided to name it after the famous rapper Pock Kerman, widely known for his catchphrase "Yo dawg, we heard you like X, so we put an X in your X, so you can X while you X!".

Needless to say, when Pock Kerman heard about this, his next plans were to set a stage for his next music on Pock.

Ringle

Ringle has been misunderstood a lot of times by the science community. When it first was discovered, it was mistaken for a piece of gold stuck to the lens of the telescope, causing the bigmouthed astronomer to yell "I'M RICH!". A few seconds after, a fistfight ensued over who possessed the gold piece. After that, it was mistaken for an eared dwarf planet in the outer reaches of the Solar system, because all telescopes had been broken in the previous fight and they had to use the backup telescopes, which are ten years old and malfunctioning.

And after the shipment of recent telescopes had arrived, it was mistaken for a protostar due to it's yellowish coloration and because the astronomer who observed Ringle forgot his glasses. It was only two months afterwards that it was discovered that Ringle is actually a moon of Sentar, because astronomers couldn't catch a picture of Ringle without Sentar in the background.

Thud

Thud has long been the punching bag of the Solar system, and its heavy craters confirm that. Its black hole-like gravity basically means game over if you get caught by Thud while you try to get to Sentar.

Scientists speculate that the end of Kerbalkind may include Thud, Tylo and Eve joining forces and crashing into Kerbin.

Serious

Serious is something no Kerbal Astronomer had expected. It was discovered 2000 years before THe sun, as Kerbals then really didn't like the sun, and just looked up at the stars for most of the time. It was recently revealed that Serious, the brightest star in the sky, actually orbits the sun. Because of the Kerbal Astronautical Union's definition of a planet, Serious is now considered a Gas Giant that happens to be fusing Hydrogen.

Joker

Joker is a tiny speck seen only with the best telescopes. Not much is known of it, hence it's name. Scientists speculate that is may also be very colorful.

Bary

Bary was once thought of as being a star in it's own right. closer inspection has led the Kerbal Astronautical Union to see it as a binary star, two stars, GInger and Fred.

Ginger

Ginger is one of the binary stars in the Bary system. It is perhaps the lonleyest twin any Kerbal has found, because Fred spends most of it's time talking to it's planet.

Fred

Fred is one of the binary stars in the Bary system. It has a planet orbiting it, and it probably loves it.

Barney

This legendary planet seems to spend most of it's time waiting for it. It would be an interesting challenge to accept going to this planet. Because this planet has no atmosphere, you should probably suit up before walking it's surface. True Story.

Slade

Slade is a moon of Barney. It is almost completely unknown if this moon actually exists, but we saw that the wobble of Fred was going up and down a little bit, and then we saw that the planet must be what's causing the wobble. But since planets don't wobble, there must be a moon here.

Fresh install with Krags PlanetFactory. Console flooded with this

Yes that is a bug introduced by 0.23 it is harmless but it means that UltraWarp doesnt work.

There is also a bug with Inaccessible and Ascension being black. As soon as I figure that out I will release an update.

Sadly, Science Archives still broken :(

Makes me wonder, is it possible at all to edit Archives' code?

BTW, the option to disable UltraWarp (Ctrl-U) doesn't work (UltraWarp itself does)

It will not add a system. I did as the instructions say, but there's only one 'example' system to delete. Also, if I do delete that, it completely screws up the Kerbin system, and doesn't add yours. If I don't delete it, planetary works fine, your system is not there.

I can confirm that Ascension's texture behaves properly. Landing was successful. Texture isn't detailed as I hoped but is does look like a dirty snowaball.

The body is not easy to land on. It's not difficult but don't think you're dealing with Minmus.

ps: I can't ultrawarp while craft is active. When planetary bodies are active, I can. And boy it is fast... :)

Here's approach to Ascension. The tug was large, and upon arriving, the last tank was still almost completely full, so the large NERVA engine was used for landing.

Surface behaves well. Some debris just rolls like crazy when discarded.

Inaccessable was a pain in the ass.

First I tried to land on the equator. I knew it was impossible, but tried nonetheless, just for fun. I got smacked by a crater rim.

Then I tried to land some 15° away from the north pole. The lander just went tumbling like crazy so I tried again.

Next, few degrees away. This is the result.

It's tilted because of the resultant force and it can't get up. :)

The first time I sent a probe to Sentar system, it was just about Sentar, Erin and Pock.

This time destinations were Skelton and Ringle. Two part probe.

Although Skelton has a retrograde orbit compared to other satellites, and I end up in the opposite orbit, encounter was easy. After aerobraking in Sentar's atmosphere, playing with Thud encounters, I was able to save lots of fuel just to plow straight into Skelton.

That thing has like 3 atmospheres of pressure so just one small parachute gives lighter probes a final descent speed of 1.1 m/s.

The surroundings on the surface look rather cozy to me. I'd say the view is better than Ringle's, unlike what says in the description.

Ringle was a tough one. It's kind of like Tylo. After establishing a high polar orbit, I went down.

Given the configuration you see on the screenshot, you simply can't use your NERVA stage to the end. At a certain height, the gravity pull is just so strong that your speed starts increasing and you can't do anything but dumping the half full stage. I used it to basically stop the lateral motion and then used the main lander engine to slow down, hover and land. It's difficult not to fall sideways, as you can see here. The first time I was left with less than 1.00 fuel, and the last time it was close to 20. I had to frantically redistribute fuel and dump every sideways tank as soon as they were spent.

Both of the textures on these bodies could be better because pixels tend to be represented as pyramids. Ringle is more detailed, though.

So far, I've landed on Ablate, Ascension, Inaccessable, Sentar, Erin, Pock, Ringle and Skelton. Somehow I doubt Thud will be merciful with its 3 G in vacuum.
