creatures on kerbin (and maybe laithe)

Recommended Posts

so kerbin is kinda dead atm. tough that is going to change with the inclusion of cities, (and hopefully kerbal citizens, cant wait to crash a plane there and have a bunch of googly eyes staring at the ship) some creatures on the planet would be nice. there would be land ones, air ones and maybe aquatic ones (not necessary tough). air creatures could make your spaceplane crash if you werent carefull enough, and even your ship.

some land creatures would try to eat your rover from breakfast and it would be extremelly cool if there were creatures out there the size of the VAB. just a suggestion, and haters gona hate.

Some of this probably goes against the Devs' wish to cut out random events. I think I'd be pretty annoyed if I got back from a huge mission to Jool, with a bajillion SCIENCEs on board my capsule, only to have it eaten by a Krakenshark when I splashed down!

On the other hand, I LOVE the idea of landing in a Kerbal town or village, and having everyone stare at my charred capsule as I step out like it was no big deal!

First of all, you're not a mod. Second, he didn't suggest cities. Third, if it's been suggested, why don't you be helpful and post a link? I can't seem to find it.

I didn't say I was a mod. There is plenty to back this up right here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/36863-What-not-to-suggest

And here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/44952-Already-Suggested-List

Everything is on one of those two lists. It looked like he was suggesting cities - the writing in the original post is unclear.

Well, wildlife isn't. Actually neither are towns with Kerbals that can't/don't do anything but oogle you,

Random assortment of creatures and maybe even Kerbal towns that are part of the terrain do sounds like an excellent idea though.

I know it's been suggested before. If it isn't already there, it should be. In fact, I'll see if they can put it on Already-Suggested.

The addition of birds, small animals and Kerbals would be cool! Although giant killer monsters and mega sharks would be kinda stupid. Plus I would love to land on Kerbin, get out and walk a few hundred meters to a random Kerbals house and say

"Hey there! I just fell from the sky! Uh..can I use your phone?

immersion level: overninethousand

that would be very fun

i said somewhat big creatures could be like easter eggs, they keep wandering by their spot and you can flyby

but there must not be atacks from animals, in any way or form, IIRC devs said that ksp will never have any violence factor

What's the matter with everyone wanting gigantic creatures? This isn't Spore...

"XXX has it therefore YYY must have it too to succeed" is extremely common, sadly. I see it everywhere, down to some idiots suggesting purely civilian flight simulators must have weapons and high score systems so people can shoot at things (and in multiplayer each other) and be able to brag about how good they are.

Even with the evident Spore hint that is not what is being suggested.

What is being suggested is that Kerbin could have some wildlife, and is not forced to get along our current wild life standards.

As so, it would be interesting to have a kind of wildlife, be it rare or not, that can be seen on a flyby, something you can see from high the skies when traveling at low atmosphere.

Adding birds to the game would allow them only to be seen whilist landed, and that would not be so cool.

Also, that would require the planet to have a massive ammount of animals (not talking about rendering here, just that if you see a bird anywhere you land would make you feel like they are a plague), otherwise you would hardly ever see any, and by "somewhat big" i mean an animal of the size of an elephant, maybe a bit bigger, not the VAB.

Trying to hurt this wildlife should be heavily discouraged on the carreer mode, even if you don't really hurt them, by giving severe penalties (so you would actually avoid hurting them if your ship gets out of control and goes after any) or making them uncollidable.

edit:

KSC is where it is for a reason, the most efficient orbital burn heads to the ocean, so ship failures won't hit the ground and have smaller chance of hitting a possible town or causing damage to a possible Kerbin ecossystem.

Okay guys, two things here:

First, I've seen no moderator in the posters, so why are people telling other people what they can/cannot do?

Second, this isn't the first time we see this thread. Wildlife isn't a bad idea on Kerbin. I'll leave this thread open and change the tag to "discussion" so you guys can discuss how it could be added. Just be careful to not delve into WNTS topics such as alien life or cities on Kerbin. Thanks!

Maybe you could be heavily fined for injuring endangered species, and possibly have to get your aircraft cockpits certified against birdstrikes.
