GOO Question

I strapped some GOO to a capsule in career mode and got it into orbit. I analyzed it at several stages and saved the reports but when I recovered the capsule I did not get any science credits. Am i missing a step?

Was that the 1st time you'd put Goo in orbit? If you'd done it before, then you could have gotten all the data the goo can tell you in that orbit. It only takes recovering 4 goos to get all their points.

Did you overwrite the science each time instead of transmitting?

Or if you transmitted, it doesn't always register that on recovery.

Were the canisters attached to the capsule or to a fuel tank that got staged off prior to landing? The cans need to still be attached to the vehicle to count.

(Although if the survived reentry as debris they can be recovered separately from the KSC traking station)

If you don't transmit the data, it gets overwritten the next time you make an observation. Also, the mission-end debrief (at recovery) only lists the observations that are were left on board, and not the transmitted ones.

In other words:

You get science credit immediately for transmissions. These are not included in the mission debrief.

You get science credit on recovery (on Kerbin) for untransmitted experiments left on board. These are the only ones mentioned in the debrief dialog.

Sounds like you saved the report, than hit overwrite on the cannister anyway. Each science part can only save 1 report. If you reset it, you ditch that report

If you arent saving the reports, you need an antenna and some way to recharge the batteries to transmit the reports. With that, you wont getthe full value for transmitting and a recovery seems to be the best option .
