A little off topic here, but IMO Multiplayer should be the least focused on thing, it should be less of a priority before the actual game mechanics.

Uses for bases and stations

money/economy

salvage parts that are ejected from the rocket which land safely on the surface (with parachutes)

Aerodynamics/reentry heat

More advance parts (like the rapier or the ion drive)

As far as we know they haven't cut resources entirely. They had a version of resources that they were working on but it turned out to be more boring and grindy than they wanted, so they cut that version. They will most likely still have resources, just not that version of resources.
