Stop or Slow Mo related

Recommended Posts

So I'm reading the "Stop or Slow Mo" thread, and I come across this comment:

I do not think that this should be part of the vanilla game, since it seems cheating because it hectic situation, in which an actual astronaut has to think fast, you would just be able to slow every thing down and react without a sweat.

And this makes me think. How about introducing bullet-time as a gameplay mechanic for manned vessels? Give your kerbals an "adrenaline level" that charges slowly. When it's full, you can hit a button and cause time to go super-slow while the adrenaline level drains over a period of some seconds.

For probe missions, if anybody can suggest a reasonable replacement for "adrenaline", that'll do too. CPU overclocking with a heat level, perhaps? Massively increased power usage while in bullet time?

I think the suggested system to make slow-mo harder will be less effective when players realize that they can just spam probe cores.

You could spam batteries, but that's just a legitimate trade-off of weight versus capability. Probe cores aren't exactly massless either. This is something that could be balanced, but if a slow-mo mode took say, 300 units of power for every mission-time second in slow-mo (or more!), it would make it certainly only worth using in emergencies.

Or at least, only worth using in those critical moments before impact with terrain. Bullet-time kabooms? And why not?

Using slowmotion is not the main point of the game, and there is really no use for it other than when its really needed.

"Bullet time" seems nice, I'm not sure if it fits the game but it would be great for docking and touchdown.
