:) I just have to share this! Go here for, uh, stuff! : http://http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Gas_planet_2

So the first paragraph states: The gas planet 2 (abbreviated GP2) is a proposed planet outside the orbit of Jool. It is planned to make the current dwarf planet Eeloo the innermost of four major moons. Like its current sister planet, Jool, it is planned to have "At least 20" smaller moons orbiting it.[1] This gas planet will most likely be the Kerbal counterpart of Saturn. Currently, the planet Sentar from Krag's Planet Factory Mod acts as GP2. It is blue, has rings, and several moons.

It will be added in 0.24.

So we are getting a new planet! Yay! I cant wait till 0.24! Just wanted to tell everybody about this exciting news!

I'm skeptical too. Could even be possible that we'll never see the mentioned Gas Planet appear in the game since Squad has altered its course in game development. But don't dispear, we'll probably see modded celestial bodies from the modding community soon ... !

user "Ricky" has no credentials and XZise, who is a sysop on the wiki has had to correct all of his contributions thus far.

I don't think there is any reason to leave the statement in there with the Citation mark by it, its made-up.

Wasn't this gas planet 2 wiki page made after the first Kerbalkon? If I remember correctly that's when we all saw it too (in the dev stream).

And the answer of when would this planet be added was always something like, "Probably added in the future" but never sure.

Unless a Dev says otherwise, this planet will not be added in the next update.

It's mentioned in the "Planned features" wiki page as well http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Planned_features

"3 gas planets (Jool being the only currently available), moons and an asteroid belt

The dwarf planet Eeloo would become a moon of the gas planet 2."

Nothing about 20 other moons but still.

And since it's not highlighted in blue (or yellow), safe to assume it won't be in the next update.

We knew about this since like 0.17, duh.

This isn't anything amazing and the devs aren't planning on adding any new planets/moons in 0.24 because "they are not really needed" (said by devs during Kerbalkon).

So yeah, this thread pretty much makes no sense

What, so... no new planets, ever, or just .24? What's the full context for that statement?

I *believe* someone asked about new planets for .23/immediate future and they (I don't know exactly who) said the usual about making more things to do on the existing planets before making more of them. I don't think it was an outright 'NO MOAR PLANETS' thing. I wasn't paying a huge amount of attention at any given time though, so I may be completely wrong.

After seeing what you've been up to with Alternis Kerbol any stock efforts would have to be stepped up a notch (or three), anyway. Perhaps you've scared them off making more planets. :D

The info is from there: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/29807-Planet-Ideas-And-Names-For-The-Future-Of-Kerbal-Space-Program?p=447959&viewfull=1#post447959

There's a link in the article, too. So it's indeed in the works, or at least was. It'd be a nice addition, but I'd also love to see the current planets fleshed out more. Biomes aren't a small task to add, and I'd rather see them added to existing planets first.

The VERY FIRST LINE of Nova's post:

Some general concepts for changes and addition that are drifting around my head (not to say this is the way they'll be though, we've all gotta generally agree what to implement and this is just my take! Plus discovery mechanics and hence the rest of the system won't happen for many updates)

Emphasis mine.

Nova has had cool system designs for a long time now, even before he was working for Squad. He has more now, check out the link in his sig 3 posts above yours.

But he's not with Squad any more, and we don't know the status of future system updates beyond that they wanted to work on some other issues before expanding.

You are right though, that they're currently working on fleshing out the planets with Biomes. It's also possible they'll have more planetary features to go with the rest of the economy and contracts system as career mode advances (some sort of resources, for lack of a better word - NOT the resource/mining system that has been bludgeoned to death)

first, wiki can sometimes be right but it is always better to check out the sources for your self.

second, only way this is possible is if the next update is gonna focus on the discovery aspect of career mode.
